We will resume regular classes after the weekend on Monday 10 April. Enjoy your long weekend! YEAR 9 (KRAKEN CLASS) MATHEMATICS The Year 9 (Kraken) class have started work on their Data Handling projects! They have been learning all about Statistics over the last month and now they have a chance to showcase their knowledge and skills in the form of a project. They have the task of coming up with a hypothesis to test over the next 5 weeks. Some of the hypothesis’ include, ‘Germany makes better quality cars than America’ and ‘Middle School students know more about the parts of speech than Elementary students’! They have begun writing the introduction for their project which will include some background information as to why they have chosen it; what they aim to do throughout the project; and a prediction on what they think they will find and why. Next week the students will begin collecting the data for their project! MONDAY 17 MARCH – ST PATRICK’S DAY (UPPER SCHOOL) Monday, March 17th, 2014 is St. Patrick's Day! The Student Council have put up posters around the Upper School letting everyone know that it is a spirit day and that all students should wear green. Also, there will be hidden gold coins all around the Upper School. Keep an eye out for them throughout the day. They could be hidden in the classrooms, the hallway and even outside! If you find any hidden coins, they should be put in your house box which will be in the hall. At the end of the day, the house with the most golden coins will win 20 house points! - Miss Jen & the Student Council ART EXHIBITION NEXT WEEK (MARCH 10–14) This is a reminder that the ISK Art Exhibition will be held all of next week in the Lower School Hall. YEAR 2 IPC ENTRY POINT

CIRCUS IS COMING TO TOWN! Last week Y2 classes had their Entry Point for the new and exciting IPC unit 'Circus is Coming to Town'. All Kangaroos, Kiwis and Monkeys had a great day reading

stories, doing face painting and juggling with different objects in order to entertain their classmates. They also enjoyed watching the 'Cirque du Soleil' show called "Allegria" and were amazed at the beautiful music and the skills of the acrobats.

PANDA CLASS Today the Early Years children celebrated "World Book Day" by having a fairy-tale theme day at school. We all dressed up as different fairy-tale book characters! The Panda class children arrived in class today and found a fairy-tale cottage had appeared! (We think it may be the brick house from the Three Little Pigs story!) As part of our Houses and Homes IPC unit this term we have been exploring the story of the "Three Little Pigs". Today we had lots of fun acting out the different events from the story using puppets and costumes. We practiced sequencing the different events from the story by cutting-out event picture cards. Also using cardboard boxes we built the three little pigs houses made of brick, sticks and straw!
