THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW

A win tonight would make the Kraken the third expansion team in NHL history to win their first game against the Anaheim Ducks, joining the Columbus

Blue Jackets and Vegas Golden Knights.

Expansion teams have a 2-3-0 all-time record in their first game against Anaheim.

Since Oct. 26, the Kraken’s 23 goals scored are tied for the fifth-most in the NHL.

With an assist tonight, Alex Wennberg would have an assist in four consecutive games, matching his career best that he set from March 6 to 12, 2018.

Entering play Monday, Brandon Tanev (47, fifth) and Jamie Oleksiak (46, sixth) both ranked in the top 10 in the NHL in hits this season. The Kraken’s

347 hits this season were good for fifth in the NHL entering play Wednesday.

Entering play Wednesday, the Kraken were the only team in the NHL to have three skaters with at least 40 hits (Tanev, Oleksiak, and Adam Larsson

).

EBS AND FLOW

Jordan Eberle enters tonight’s game having scored seven goals in his last seven games dating back to Oct. 26, 2021 against Montreal. His seven

goals since Oct. 26 are tied with Anaheim’s Troy Terry for the most in the NHL entering play Wednesday.

A goal tonight would give him goals in four consecutive games, matching his career high.

Eberle previously scored a goal in four straight games from Dec. 17 to 26, 2011 and again from Jan. 31 to Feb. 6, 2012.

Eberle’s seven goals in 13 games played this season puts him on pace to finish the year with 44 goals, surpassing his previous career high of 34 that

he set in 77 games during the 2011-12 season.

Entering play Wednesday, Eberle was tied for 11th in the NHL with seven goals.

Since Oct. 26, when Eberle is on the ice during five-on-five play, the Kraken are outshooting their opponents 47 to 32 and have 50 scoring chances to

their opponent’s 28*

Seattle Kraken: Media Notes

SETTING THE PACE

Thirteen games into the season, nine Kraken skaters are on pace to set new career highs in scoring: Ryan Donato, Joonas Donskoi, Haydn Fleury,

Morgan Geekie, Jeremy Lauzon, Jared McCann, Jamie Oleksiak, Carson Soucy and Brandon Tanev.

With seven points (three goals, four assists) in eight games this season, Jared McCann is on pace to finish the season with 29 goals, 39 assists and

67 points, all of which would far surpass his previous career highs of 19 goals, 21 assists and 35 points.

Nathan Bastian (7), Ryan Donato (15), Jordan Eberle (44), Haydn Fleury (20), Morgan Geekie (13), Yanni Gourde (26), Carson Soucy (19), and

Brandon Tanev (38) are all on pace to set new career highs in goals.

Fleury enters tonight’s game just two goals shy of matching his career high of four, despite only playing in eight games this season.

Joonas Donskoi (38), Jeremy Lauzon (20), Jamie Oleksiak (32) and Jaden Schwartz (48) are all on pace to set new career highs in assists.

SPREADING THE WEALTH

The Kraken have had eight goals this season scored by defensemen, which trails only the Vegas Golden Knights (nine) for the most in the NHL

entering play Wednesday.

The eight goals by Kraken defensemen account for 22 percent of the team’s scoring this season, which tied with the Minnesota Wild for third in the NHL

entering play Wednesday.

Entering play Wednesday, Seattle, Minnesota and Vegas are the only teams in the NHL this season to have three defensemen with multiple goals this

year.

Mark Giordano, Haydn Fleury and Carson Soucy all have scored at least twice for the Kraken this season.

Entering play Wednesday, Mark Giordano was tied for third among defenseman with three goals this season.

TURBO CHARGED

Brandon Tanev enters tonight’s game with eight points (six goals, two assists) in 13 games this season. His eight points are the most of his career

through the first 13 games of a season, and his six goals his most through any 13-game stretch of his career.

Despite only playing in 13 games this season, Tanev is only one goal shy of matching his goal total last season, which he set in 29 games played.

Tanev’s career high is 14, which he set in 78 games during the 2018-19 season.

An assist tonight would give him an assist in three consecutive games, matching his career high that he set from March 6 to 9, 2021.

WHAT MCCANN’T HE DO

Jared McCann has 11 points (four goals, seven assists) in his last 11 games, dating back to last season.

His 0.88 points per game played lead all Kraken skaters this year.

His seven points are the most of his career through his first eight games of a season.

Prior to this season, the quickest McCann reached seven points was in his 12th game played in 2017-18.

McCann has averaged 16:24 of ice time this season, the highest of his career.

Prior to this season, his highest average ice time over the course of a season was 15:14 in 2019-20 when he played for the Pittsburgh Penguins.
