PRESIDENT’S NOTES

Hi Y'all, Thanks to all who attended the club functions this month. .Wednesday Breakfast is always lots of fun! Where else can you get a beer for 99 Cents? We gave money to the Kingsland Library, HLES Reading Initiative Program in Granite Shoals, HCCAC, Marble Falls Library, and Agape Pro-gram. All were very appreciative of the Dona-tions. Great Job Members!!!!!!!! Welcome New Members: Robert & Cydney Alexander and Preston & Phyllis Mason. Wishing Bob Deets a speedy recovery from sur-gery.. Hope lots of club members took the time to go visit John Warren at the Lampasas Nursing Home. See Ya at the next Friday Cruise, September 2, if the rain stops. Till then keep dry. Don

ACTIVITY REPORT By

Mark Kidd Howdy LARC Members, Our esteemed Editor said it was time for the Newsletter to go out, so here is my part. Past Events... July 12th. was our monthly meeting at the Community Center in Highland Haven, We had a great meeting Ice Cream, with all the trimmins, you know cookies, choclatee thingees, Justin's world renowned cake just to name a a few things. Oh yeah back to the newsletter… Mr DD Pelam agreed wholeheartedly to again start up the "Monthly go to Dinner event" whatta guy.... July22nd. Some of us cruised to LLano to visit with a few of the people we used to meet with at Inman's. this time we ate at Stonewall's and sat by the Courthouse and reminisced.. July 29th. Our Club met at the Kingsland Library to present them with a check from our Annual Car Show Charity Money... July 30th. Some of our Club Members went to S.Austin's Omni Hotel for a Car Show. We had great park-ing and sat in the shade and listened to each other tell lies, cept me of course cause I always tell the truth!!!!! We had no trophy winners… Also on this day was the Fredericksburg's Hottest weekend of the year Swap-meet.... (Ed. Note: Maybe it should be renamed the Sweat Meet—Just say’in).

Aug.5th. was Friday Nite Fever "on the Square" in Burnet. We had roughly 30 cars and 1 of the cars came

all the way from Cridor Tx.. He was driving a good looking 60's something corvette, nice guy, said he would

be back for our Annual Car Show. DD Pelam won the 50/50 , How come all the winners are the ones who

are filthy rich, not some cash challenged person like myself???? We also had some new cars and trucks

show up being driven by some real nice people, It was a really good night...

Aug 6th. was the Main Street Car Show at the Y in Burnet, good show for a first time event, Our very own

Mike Sommers the pinstriper was there, along with our Music DJ Terri Locke... they had Sno Cones, reasona-

bly priced, and all the drivers received good for a combo lunch ticket, Me and my child bride shared a good

Cheeseburger, chips and a drink....Winners of the Winner Chick’n Dinner top 25 were Mr. Rayford Reese,

George De Witt and Miz. Cyndy Kidd…

Aug. 7th Some of our members went to the boat drags at the Annual Marble Falls Lake Fest, I didn't, so not

much i can tell you.

Aug 9th. We presented a charity check to the Highland Lakes Elementary School for their special reading

program. lottsa picture taking going on. Giving money away to a good cause is always fun.

Aug.25th. Was our Monthly Supper at the Lighthouse Country Club, put on by our very own DD Pelam.

We had a bunch of our beautiful show cars (at least 15) and at least 36 members attended. (Ed. Note: these

numbers are best guesses only by yours truly). The food was great, the service was very prompt and atten-

tive. The owner’s daughter came down from Dallas to help out, and we got to celebrate our very own Cyndy

Kidd’s and Jim Ruggs’ birthdays. There was even a beautiful cake complete with candles, and there was

enough for all the members to have a good sized piece as well as enough to share with the other diners in the

restaurant.. Our ladies only get more beautiful with birthdays. DD, thanks again for a great event!!!! - Ed.

Sept. 24th. Comanche Car Show...

Oct. 1st. Marble Falls Show n Shine... Sometime in October, John Kent of the Uptown Theater and Record-

ing Studio and I are going to have a live recording session along with our club on Main Street,. We're hoping

to have it the same time as the Show an Shine... bye, bye

JOHN WARREN

Your editor and Judy have been going up to Lampasas to visit John in the hospice care center he is in (it’s directly behind the hospital). He has been in good spirits and is fairly comfortable, and is on pain manage-ment. He has been so happy to see all the LARC folks who have taken the time to go up and see him., has a good attitude He is alert, but at this time, food is not too appealing to him, but he still has a yearning for ice cream or a milkshake. He is so grateful for all of us who have taken the time to go and spend some time with him.
