How Great a Love!

God is love. God is love in His very nature,

character, and essence. God’s love is evident in

many ways all around us at all times. We are more

keenly aware of this at some times than at other

times.

“God proves His own love for us in that while we

were still sinners, Christ died for us!” (Romans 5:8)

The greatest demonstration of God’s love for

us is the sacrificial, atoning death of Christ on the

cross of Calvary. The Lamb of God was slain in our

place for our sins. This substitutionary work is the

crux of the Christian faith.

“To all who did receive Him, He gave them the right

to be children of God, to those who believe in His

name.” (John 1:12)

A person receives Christ into his heart and

life by repenting of sin and believing in His name.

To believe in Jesus’ name is to trust in His Person

and Work. Trusting in His Person means believing

that Jesus is Who He says He is - the Son of God.

Trusting in His Work means believing that Jesus has

done what He claims to have done - died for us.

“Look at how great a love the Father has given us,

that we should be called God’s children. And we

are!” (1 John 3:1)

The great love of a great God accomplishes

great results. Christians are children of God! We

are not merely called God’s children – we are God’s

children! Marvel at how great a love the Father has

given us! Share that great love with someone else

today!

In Christ,

Pastor Calvin

Dear Church Family,

As February is approaching, I cannot help but think about

Valentine’s Day, and all of the sentiment it brings. As we take

time out to celebrate our relationships, let us not forget that

God calls us to love one another every day of the year. We

have no greater commandment than to “Love the Lord your

God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all

your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: Love

your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater

than these” (Mark 12:30-31).

I am very excited about the upcoming “Very Veggie Valentine

Party” for the children on February 8th. They will be watching

“Lettuce Love One Another,” and it will be a great opportunity

to teach them more about this important commandment. I

encourage ALL of our children to come and hope everyone

will bring a friend! For more details, please see the flyer on the

table outside of the nursery, or feel free to contact me.

Lastly, I am so encouraged by where the Lord will lead us as a

church family through Evangelism, Inc. I have already heard

of some wonderful opportunities to implement this, and am

prayerful about where the Lord will lead me in this endeavor

as children’s director. I would like to encourage each of you to

be prayerful of each other, of our church, and of yourselves as

I know the Lord can use us all to spread His Word throughout

our community! We can start by spending the month of

February loving each other in the way that He commands….as

He has loved us!

“By this everyone will know that you are my disciples”

(John 13:35).

In His Love, Suzanne

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your

soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The

second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no

commandment greater than these.”

Operation Help/Hope for January

Happy New Year from the Food Pack Ministry! Our January ministry supplied 410 food paks to AES and AMS. Additionally, we provided food to six families with 11 children. Thank you First Baptist, 2

nd Baptist,

Valleytown Baptist, New Beginnings Baptist for your love, support and donations. We are so blessed with the faithfulness of our packers and for the work in the rain and cold. We appreciate Hillside Nursery’s vehicle for our delivery during the “flood”. We are in need of more men to help with our delivery. If you could give this ministry about 30 minutes a week, let our packers know and come to the site Thursday mornings at 8:30. Due to supply and demand and space limitations we are unable to accept any donations except food at this time.

Thank you. Nancy

May we let others see Jesus in us as we minister to hungry children in 2013. “You shall be My witnesses.” Acts 1:8.

proved to be the challenge we had expected it to be. We are

spending a little more time than expected on each lesson to

ensure each of us get a better understanding of material. We

are also praying for God to lead us to our next study.

We are very excited about the “Evangelism Inc” initiative!!

Our group was immediately on board with ideas and plans for

ways we can make a positive impact in our community for

Christ. As a youth group we feel lead to make a greater im-

pact at our High School and Middle School. As parents and

teachers please let us know of any ideas or events we may be a

part of.
