Mr Bragard’s Weekly Update
Welcome back one and all! I hope you are all well rested and enjoyed your week with your children. Mine consisted of too much food and lots of swimming in the beautiful country of Malta. The thing that touched me the most about this amazing country was the love of community the people in Malta have and how they all support one another in everything they do. It reminded me so much of Sacred Heart School. The school has always been built on a Catholic and family ethos which makes it such a special and wonderful school to be a part of. This term the need for community is essential. There will be a lot of events happening this half term that will require our community to pull together for the benefit of our school and our children. The Summer Fayre is the main event for the term and I am making a personal plea for your help. We require lots of helpers on the day to run stalls and at the moment we do not have enough. Without this support from our Catholic and school community this event will not be able to run to the detriment of our children. I ask you all to remember what makes our school so special and to sign up at the school office to support this wonderful event.

This Week’s News
Year 3 Airport TripYear 3 visited Southend Flying Club as an end to their topic ‘Gateways to the World’. The children spoke to pilots, had a chance to sit in a plane, saw planes take off and land and even waved at some pilots! Of course they had to have a competition to see who could draw the best plane!
Year 2 Trip Langdon HillsLast week Year 2 had a fantastic trip pond dipping, den building, mini-beast hunting and toasting marshmallows. They all came back raving about what a great time they had!
Year 1 Alien Catchers
Year 1 have been busy using
their phonics skills to catch
aliens this week. They have
been using their phonics fingers
and been careful to look for their
special friends. They have all
been super stars and enjoyed
getting a biscuit for their efforts!
Rock Stars CompetitionAt the end of last week our Rock Star Battles had
finally come to an end. Below are the final
results! Well done Year 4, Year 3 and Year 2! A
special well done to Year 4 for being overall

Packed Lunches
Many children at school bring their own packed
lunch. Many parents wonder what makes a good
packed lunch? How many items should I put in their
lunch box? Can i give them left over take away
from the night before? It is vital that you pack a
balanced lunch and leave the take aways at home.

What’s Coming Up?
Sacred Heart Feast Day
We are looking forward to celebrating Sacred Heart Feast Day on Friday 28th June. We hope that as many parents and carers as possible can join us.
We will be marking this special occasion in a number of ways:
• Feast Day mass at 9:30am. We hope to hold our mass outdoors (on the playground) in order to accommodate our growing numbers within the Sacred Heart community. For the outdoor mass, some seating will be available but it will not be possible to provide seating for all. Parents/carers are welcome to bring along a foldable/portable chair if available. In the event of bad weather, the mass will be moved into Sacred Heart Church and attended by all parents and Y3-6 pupils. (It will not be possible to fit all pupils into the church but all parents will be accommodated.)
• After mass, parents and carers will be welcomed into the school hall for refreshments (tea or coffee, with cake). Children will return to class for their own break-time during this time.
• We will then finish off our Feast Day celebration morning with pupils performing a range of songs and dances. We hope that we will be able to host these on the playground; again, this will be dependent on weather conditions on the day.If you wish to join us in school on this special occasion, please book your place on our online system. Entrance will be by ticket only, which are priced at £1.00 (with proceeds going to our school charities). The deadline for booking tickets for this event is Friday 21st June 2019.
For full details of the event and booking arrangements, please see our Feast Day letter dated 7th June 2019.

Stay and PrayAs part of our weekly routine at Sacred Heart, pupils and teachers regularly gather together within their classes to pray during Class Worship sessions.
As a Catholic school, we recognise the importance of coming together to pray and worship our faith. We would like to extend an invitation to parents and carers to join your child’s class for their ‘Stay and Pray’ Class Worship. This is an important opportunity for us all to be gathered in His name.
We look forward to seeing as many parents/carers as possible to join us at our Stay and Pray class worship sessions. If you would like to join us for this special occasion, please indicate your intention to attend by ticking the relevant consent box our online system School Money.
We detail below the Stay and Pray sessions that have been planned for this term:
