The Indoor World Cup will take place in Leipzig, Germany, in January 2015. Derwent is repre- sented within the Squad and we congratulate Tim Deavin on his selection. In the 2014 Men’s Indoor De- velopment Squad we are represented by Dougal Middleton. As President I would like to welcome Jo Traynor onto the 2014 Derwent Committee. Whilst a Derwent member, due to her work within Hockey South and then Hockey Tasmania, Jo has been unable to take a specific role on the Committee within the Club. Following 17 years of hard work, Jo no longer works within Hockey Tasmania and has joined the Committee. Derwent Strikers—Strike Force

Haven’t picked up a stick in years? Want some extra exercise or just some exercise? Want to come and meet some new people. Then B-Pool is for you. Come and join some of the enthusiastic men and women in B-Pool that you can see below. Registration for B-Pool is as follows: WHEN: Sunday 23rd February WHERE: POW Hotel, Battery Point

TIME: 4—5pm Following the registration afternoon, there will be turf sessions for the old and new B-Pool men.

Derwent is celebrating it’s 80th birthday in 2015. We are the oldest club in the Southern part of the State and the 2nd oldest in the entire State. Accordingly we need to celebrate in style for the entire of 2015. In order to be prepared, the Committee are calling on people interested to par-ticipate or be part of a sub-committee to organise the celebrations and plan events for 2015. Derwent Strikers—Strike Force

In 2014 we welcome a new sponsor to the Club—The Prince Of Wales Hotel. We have had some fantastic times at the Quarry and we thank Justin and his staff for his continued sponsorship of the club, but 2014 sees the Club move into a different direction. The POW cards are being distributed, which will outline the potential savings Club members can make at the pub. The savings include:

Derwent’s own Alistair Addison has been appointed to the role of Hockey Tasmania Business De-velopment Manager. Alistair has had a long association with hockey in Tasmania as a player, coach and employee and also brings a wealth of experience from playing and working in hockey overseas. This hockey knowledge is paired with his experience gained through his marketing and communication internship at Derwent Entertain-ment Centre throughout 2013 . Whilst with us this year Alistair will also be continuing his study and completing his Tourism degree with a Marketing major. As Business Development Manager, Alistair, is responsible for the leadership of game development, communication, marketing and new product development. On alternative note there are two employment opportunities within Hockey Tasmania. An exciting employment opportunity has opened up on the North West Coast with Hockey Tasmania. Hockey Tasmania is seeking an ener-getic and enthusiastic Game Development Officer who will be responsible for the promotion, implementation and delivery of hockey development programs, events and activities in the North West. Whilst in the South Hockey Tasmania is seeking an energetic and enthusiastic Competitions and Administration Officer to join our Hobart-based team. The successful applicant will be responsible for coordinating the southern regional hockey competitions for Hockey Tasmania. This includes the preparation and ongoing management of rosters for senior, junior, school and social winter and summer competitions and administration of all match re-lated information, player registrations and game results. Plus general administration support for the Tasmanian Hockey Centre. This is a permanent role and can be 30 -38 hours depending on the candidate. Tasmanian Women’s Masters Teams 2014 Australian National Championships - Darwin, NT 10 – 19 July 2014

The Hockey Australia Women’s Masters Championships are scheduled to be held in Darwin from Thursday 10th July - Saturday 19th July. The Official Opening will be held on Wednesday evening, 9th July and Tasmanian players & offi-cials will be required to arrive in Darwin on Monday 7th July for team meetings and training sessions on Tuesday 8th and Wednesday 9th July.

Team Officials Hockey Tasmania is making a final call with the deadline for submission being 31st January 2013, for Expressions of Interest from interested and suitably qualified personnel for appointment as a Tasmanian team official for this tournament. Nominees should note that the team contribution towards the cost of accommodation and airfare for each team official will be capped at $1500, with the balance payable by each appointed team official. Queries may be directed to Katie Gard (ph 0438334131).

Players Eligible players are invited to nominate for selection in a Tasmanian team – Over 35, Over 40, Over 45, Over 50, Over 55 (the number of teams selected will be determined from the number of eligible players nominating in each age group) – the age of eligibility for a team being age as at 31 December 2014. Closing date for player nomina-tions is Friday 21st February 2014. Nomination for selection in a Tasmanian team will only be accepted with pay-ment of a nomination fee of $25.

All nominees are required to attend state trials in Launceston on Saturday 1st March (Day One of the Masters Intrastate Tournament). Please note that prompt payment is required for expenses incurred on a player’s behalf, with full payment to be received by Hockey Tasmania no later than the due date set for final payment. Accommodation has been reserved at Argus Apartments – it being the prime tourist season in June-July it is an expensive time of year to visit Darwin so please be prepared for costs to be higher than usual. A rough estimate of tour costs is between $2400 and $2500, excluding airfares. Players & officials will be required to arrive in Darwin on Monday 7th July for team meetings and training sessions on Tuesday 8th and Wednesday 9th July, with return flights from Sunday 20th July.
