Over the past couple of weeks there have been a couple of incidents involving cars travel-ling along Bell St to and from the Hockey Centre. Last week a dog was hit by someone leaving the centre after training. On Sunday a black commodore ute was seen doing burn outs up and down Bell St just after noon after leaving the centre. We have had several complaints from our neighbours regarding this incident. Please drive safely.

It has been decided that prior to matches it is now agreed that teams can warm up the circles. This is a trial

and we will monitor any excess wearing in the circles and if necessary we will rescind this trial if it is

deemed necessary. This will allow the nets to stay in place over the weekend and reduce the wear and tear

particular on the nets.

The Southern Competition Committee are currently preparing matters to have a review of season 2014 and looking at season 2015. To enable us to do that, we would seek feedback/ideas from our members as to what their opinions as to any improvements/ideas etc for 2015. Some examples include: a. Friday night junior night; b. Reduce the games to quarters of 15 minutes each; c. Reduce teams to 9 a side; d. Region of origin for all grades somewhere in the middle of the season. e. Premier league teams are renamed to sponsors names i.e. the Telstra Strikers

f. That after the 1st round, each team has a competition within the grade of the top four; g. That the season commences earlier for juniors; h. That all school games move to grass, leaving longer time for U8’s and U10’s. i. School hockey is in terms 1 and 4 and club hockey is in terms 2 & 3.

These are just some random samples, and I am sure that you have some excellent ideas for season 2015. So the Southern competition Committee can make an accurate representation to the Board, could you please email to [email protected] any ideas by Friday 8th August 2014 Thanking you to those people have already responded.
