“Be God’s Mercy”
A Father is neither an anchor to hold us back, nor a sail to take us there, but a guiding light
whose love shows us the way.
Included in the bulletin today is our finan-cial report for 2015. My sincere apologies for the delay in getting this information out to you. Please take it home and go over it as you sit and have your coffee, and if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact
me. I hope you will find that we have been responsible for with our incoming resources, and efficient with the funds that must be spent, and think you will find that the budget reflects the di-rectional values portion of our Mission Statement. We still need to bring our weekly collections portion up to $7,400 per week in
order to meet expenses, and if you have any suggestions to help us reach that goal, we would be happy to listen to your ideas. As always, we strive to provide good stewardship, through the maintenance of our building and in carrying out our various ministries. Thank you, Michael Daly of our Finance Committee, for preparation of the financial report, and thank you to all parishioners and friends who offer their financial support to our wonderful parish. Today is Father’s Day and we wish to honour and give thanks for all fathers, past and present, who raised and are presently raising their children to be the best they can be. Not an easy job! Thank you!! This past Wednesday evening, we tried having a meeting with our “Curb to Pew” volunteers, and were even
optimistic that we might see some new faces. Unfortunately, we had a very low turn-out and no new faces. The fact remains however, that this is a very important ministry as it plays a very significant role in the renewal of our parish. Hospitality and welcome is one of our directional values, which flows from our Mission Statement. We believe that the nourishment of our faith begins the moment parishioners or guests step onto our grounds or drive into the parking lot. We need people to feel welcome and safe, and by welcoming people in the parking lot, at the doors and showing them to their seats, we are expressing in a very tangible way, that we truly appreciate their pres-ence as we all come together to celebrate the Eucharist.
We are and will be actively seeking more people to be involved in the three areas of the “Curb to Pew” ministry – parking lot helpers, door greeters and ushers. This is not a ministry that requires a lot of extra time. If you are able to come one half hour earlier to Mass and are able to smile and warmly greet someone, please contact the office (905-522-9828) and leave your name and phone number or email address. Over the summer the Pastoral Team will be developing a workshop to help empower you to be an effec-tive part of this ministry. We are looking to do this training sometime in early Sep-tember. More information to come. The moment you enter the church, you will notice that one of the main stained glass windows has been removed from the sanctuary and sent off to Artistic Glass in Toronto, to be restored. The windows are in very poor condition, but the good news is they are salvageable if we act promptly.
Calendar Notes Monday, June 20: Psalms: The School of Prayer – 7:00 PM Note: Last session for the summer will be Monday, June 27 Tuesday, June 21 Gardening – 6:30 PM Wednesday, June 22: Seniors’ Meeting – 2:00 PM Friday, June 24: Youth Group – Open Gym – 5:00 PM Saturday, June 25 Youth Group – Session – 2:00 PM – 8:00 PM

I’d like to thank all parishioners and friends who have donated to our youth ministry or our door outreach min-istry. You are truly making a significant difference in our neighbourhood! Please remember donations can be made online through the Canada Helps website, which can be accessed on our parish website. For the month of June, each donation made through Canada Helps gets us a ballot for a chance to win $10,000 for our favourite charity, which of course is St. Patrick! When making a donation, you are able to indicate which area you would like your donation to go to, i.e. youth, heritage fund, outreach, general fund, etc. Again, my heartfelt thanks for any and all donations! Thanks for a parishioner’s response to our request for youth group sponsors for our Wonderland trip. Three students are able to attend because of her generosity. Thanks as well to everyone who put their diets on hold and bought a Krispy Kreme donut. The Youth Group raised $385 towards their Steubenville event! Beginning this Monday, June 20, our parish will be on summer schedule. As such, Rita Kara, our Office Admin-istrator, will be taking every Monday off. The office will still be open, but will be staffed by our Pastoral Associate, Peter Robinson. He will be doing basic office duties such as answering the phone, emails, doing Mass intentions, baptismal certificate requests, etc. Our weekly “News from the Pews” will also be on summer schedule, and this will be our last scheduled weekly bulletin for the summer. A full bulletin will be published on the following dates: July 10, July 31 and August 21. When we aren’t publishing the full bulletin, a one-page update will be prepared, if there is enough information to warrant it. OUTREACH The summer holidays are now just over a week away, and as you may or may not be aware, many of the food banks and other food service providers really struggle at this time of the year to continue to provide their usual service to their people in need. Most of us get to go somewhere on vacation at this time of the year, but not those who are dependent on these different services. Especially in this Year of Mercy, please try to remember that there is a year-round need for services such as our outreach at St. Patrick, as well as all other agencies that provide this service. Outreach Supplies Needed this Week: Ice tea (crystals), coffee whitener, instant coffee, soft fruit or fruit cups, large tins of fruit cocktail, tuna, snacks, white sliced bread.
