Believe Series, Chapter 12: “Prayer”
This Sunday we are in Chapter 12 of
the Believe worship series. Our
focus in on the practice of prayer. In
Luke 11, Jesus teaches the disciples
how to pray in the Lord’s Prayer.
Each Sunday at church we pray the
Lord’s Prayer. It is central to our
worship experience. Prayer connects
us with God and allows us to be
guided spiritually.
In the service we will hear a duet
sung by Bill and Annie Elgie and the
senior choir will be singing.
Scripture Readings this week:
Luke 11: 1-13
Psalm 66
Sermon:
Connecting with God

UN-INTELLIGENT DESIGN
We were making leaflets for a local church, and the client wanted a logo designed with Earth
being shielded by the hand of God. I sent the client a proof. Shortly thereafter, I got a call.
Client: The hand looks too human. Please use a hand that looks more like God’s.

News from the Pews Page 9
This This has been a great week! On Sunday we had a full church with many visitors and people
who have not been out for a while. There were also babies everywhere! It’s the year for babies.
We have been so blessed by the new life that has emerged and we have many baptisms com-
ing up this year.
After the service on Sunday I went down to Toronto with the youth to serve the homeless this
week we had 14 people from St. Andrew’s attend. This time both my daughters came for the first
time. Sarah says, “it’s cold out here and I want to go warm up” and then says, “I feel bad for the
homeless people because they can’t get warm and have nowhere to live.” So often the simple
things in life such as warm clothing and a warm home we take for granted. Even for a short time
we may be cold or hungry, but it is a reality for so many in our country. Through acts of generos-
ity and sharing we can make a difference in the lives of people who live on our streets and be-
low the poverty line. On Sunday I think some learning took place as some of our younger youth
experienced what it was like to serve those less fortunate. We owe a huge thanks to Susan
Whaley for providing the delicious chicken soup and to Nikki Hogan for providing the buns and
water this week.
This Saturday coming up is our annual community auction. We have hundreds of amazing deals
available. New products, services and talents will be auctioned off. We owe a huge thanks to the
auction committee for working so hard again this year. I hope you will all be able to come and
support the auction this year.
Blessings,
Grant
