Blogger

• The main new media technology that I have used to attain my coursework was the ‘Blogger’ itself. ‘Blogger’ enabled us to store all of our coursework in one place, which is easy to access and is also very simple to use. In doing this, I was able to present all of my research and development, showing the process of my work from the very beginning, all the way through to the top of my blog. I was able to type out notes onto my blog, insert images, videos and power points using slide share also, which was very beneficial in conveying a variation of media techniques. I also used survey monkey, which I was then able to embed onto my blog so that people could fill out my survey using my blog to access it.

GoPro• Established as ‘The World’s Most Versatile Camera’, we also used a GoPro to film scenes on

my father’s motorbike. This small camera was extremely effective in capturing the moving motorbike, including the surroundings, as it was able to conveniently capture shots of the wheel on the moving motorbike. As well as the wheel, we also placed the GoPro at the front of the motorbike so that we had a variation of shots, including scenes of the road ahead while the motorbike was once again moving. We were then able to place these scenes in our trailer and change back and forth from the scenes of the road ahead to the wheel moving to enhance the idea of speed and the need for Ricky to safe his helpless girlfriend.

Photoshop• For my magazine front cover and film poster we used the software,

Photoshop. This was perfect to create our ancillary texts as it enabled us to add filters and effects to our original image. The range of fonts and colours available allowed me to generate a magazine front cover that had a clear house style and therefore flowed well with the main image and overall genre of my film. It is evident that I have used a filter on my film poster, as the subject appears inhumane, reflecting clearly upon her darkened characteristics. In adding a filter, the subject appears to have dark eyes, which are barely visible. I was also able to add a second image onto my magazine front cover. Even though my magazine has a main image, I have also provided my audience with a bonus effect, which comprises a ‘Free Poster Inside’ benefit. This technique allowed me to attract even more viewers so that they were given a greater insight into the film itself, as well as the actors staring in the film. Using the ellipse tool, I placed the image in a white circle so that the image fitted inside the circle perfectly.

IMovie• In order to put my film trailer together, my group and I decided to use iMovie because all

three of us own Macs. We were able to import our videos efficiently and effectively. Not only were we able to edit our video footage, we were also able to bring items from other programs such as iPhoto and iTunes. Since we created a piece of music using a piano, we saved our piece onto iTunes and then imported the music onto our trailer using iMovie.

Nikon D300 • Using a Nikon camera, we were able to film our trailer product- ively and using a tripod if necessary. It was easy to zoom in so that we gave ourselves a variation of shots, in a variety of locations, using different heights also (e.g. either looking up at the character or looking down at the character). In addition to this, we were able to pan up and down or side to side using the tripod (e.g. of the church) set the location effectively.
