“ They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship,

to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43 Everyone was filled with awe,

and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. 44

All the believers were together and had everything in common.

Acts 2: 42-44

No person can know themselves until they see themselves against the backdrop of their largest vision of God’s world, an environment which is of God’s creation. There is a wealth of wisdom to be gained from the moun-tain top view of the far country. We begin to know where we live when we see God’s vast creation. We begin to know who we are when we know the power of God’s Spirit as it touches our lives.

God’s ever urgent call to us is to recognize who we are and know where we live. He calls us to a vision of wholeness, which provides a grander perspective of His world and our part in His work.

Worship is a purposeful withdrawal from the mundane activities of life in order that we may see the largest dimensions of life in clear focus. God reveals himself, unfolds His purpose, and makes His pathway known through worship. During the summer months we often find ourselves in the great outdoors of God’s creation, exploring new territories, seeing new vistas and energized by new adventures. Let your adventures include adventures of faithful, prayerful, and festive praise through worship in the Lord’s House. Give God the Glory in all things…. Worship with others gathered in Jesus Name at His ever Expanding Table.

The day of Pentecost is almost upon us. 50 days following the resurrection, the church received the power promised by Jesus, the coming of the Holy Spirit. We, as part of the body, rejoice in this gift of God and can an-ticipate the movement of the Spirit among us as we come together for worship, prayer, praise and proclamation on June 9th. Make you plans to be part of the celebration of the Birth of the Church!

Over the past few months members of our congrega-tion have noted the dramatic changes to our sacred space for worship with the renovation of the chancel and baptistery. Following the leadership of our Reno-vation Team, we have just completed the “Chalice Stone Wall” and put new flooring in the narthex of the church. The team is continuing in their work and is planning to meet on June 5th at 6:00 Pm to continue their discussion and plans for enhancement of our fa-cilities. Pray for the team and their ongoing work as they are doing an excellent job!

What’s Happening

at New Hope

Over the last couple of months a number of people at New

Hope have been hard at work providing enriching experi-

ences for the members and visitors of New Hope.

The Nurture Team provided several Holy Week opportuni-

ties for worship beginning with a Palm Sunday Cantata by

the Choir and ending with a silent service on Good Friday.

They also sponsored a special Bible Study called “The Re-

turn of the Prodigal Son”.

The Serve Team provided the meal for the Refuge Fellow-

ship Church for Oklahoma City’s homeless population on

April 22nd and again on May 13. Several people helped

with food prep, transport, serving and cleanup under the

direction of Anthony Henderson.

The Connect Team was really busy. The annual Easter Egg

Hunt was a big success. They hosted receptions honoring

our two newlywed couples, Mollie Coker and Eric Olsen

and Tara Stokes and Zach Chervenak. They also provided

gifts for all the ladies on Mother’s day and celebrated the

2019 Graduates with a gift and a reception.

In addition visits were made and gifts were given to New

Hope’s homebound members.

The Maintenance Team has already begun the regular

mowing schedule that keeps the church grounds looking

nice. They purchased a new lawn mower to replace one

that was becoming a maintenance problem. They have also

attempted to hold an outdoor workday which keeps getting

rained out.

The Choir provided the Palm Sunday Easter Cantata and

also musical leadership for Sunday services. And now will

take a well-deserved break.

The Renovation Team began Phase II of the update to New

Hope’s “holy spaces” by updating the Narthex and contin-

ue to work together to furnish the Narthex and update light-

ing and audio for the sanctuary.

And last but certainly not least, Reverend Chambers, in ad-

dition to providing inspiring, thought-provoking sermons

for Sunday Worship, taught a Pastor’s Class, performed a

wedding and a number of funerals along with hospital and

nursing home visits.

Many people have been really busy at New Hope and all of

our members have benefited.

A Stewardship Moment

The following is borrowed with permission from an-

other church’s newsletter.

Do you walk off and leave every commitment when

you vacation? Meaning: do you just forget about the

car payment, the house payment, utility bills, your

pets, etc.?

“It’s okay!” you reason. “The mortgage and utility

companies and lien holders won’t care…they will un-

derstand! Animals will survive! After all, you’re on

vacation!” (Now…if you believe any of that I have

some proverbial land to sell you!) Of course, we all

take care of our responsibilities before and during va-

cation time!

But what about your commitment to God and God’s

church? Responsibilities continue even when your

presence is missed! The reality is: the bills keep roll-

ing in all summer long for the church.

So…coming to the point: do not forget your commit-

ment to your church and to your God as you ‘pay for-

ward’ your other bills before vacationing. NO! Your

commitment to the church is not a ‘bill’, but a gift to

God at this place of God’s presence that is special to

you. Think ahead to remember that without your sup-

port and assistance, the church cannot stand.

Have a blessed vacation! Stop along the way and

worship the God who loves you wherever you are.

God goes before you. And behind you…God’s church

will appreciate your early remembrance of the ministry

we continue to accomplish together!

How is the Pentecost offering used? To help our new church movement continue to take root! Each year, half of this offering stays in the local Region where it’s collected to start and uphold new churches. The other half is used across the United States and Canada by New Church Ministry to support the recruiting, assessing, training and coaching of new church leaders at events like Leadership Academy.
