The classes are required for parents and Godparents.
Parents must be registered, participating members
of the parish for at least two months, Godparents
must be practicing Catholics who have received
Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation, and if they
are couples must be married by the Catholic
Church.
Please call the church office at least four
to six months in advance. A pre-marriage program is
required. Call parish office for more information.

tion for adults and children 7 years and older): For
more information please call at 407-656-3113.
Please notify us when you would like a hospital
or home visit.
We believe that life long learning and growing is healthy
for all ages and stages. We also expect that we as adults,
youth or children will continue to grow and learn our
faith for our entire life. We encourage all youth; Kinder-
garten to Grade 12 to participate in Religious Education.
Every child should be receiving education in their faith
every year. Every adult should continue to read, study
share the Scriptures, their faith and their prayer with
others. We know that a relationship with Christ is so im-
portant that we require a minimum of one or two years of
Religious Education before preparing for the Sacraments
of Reconciliation, Eucharist and Confirmation. Religious
Education is for every year that our child is in school, not
just when they are preparing for a sacrament. If your
child is not participating please call at 407-656-3113 x4 or
email Maryann McFerrin [email protected] to
see how we can assist you with Religious Education.

Pentecost is the solemn celebration of the Holy Spirit. For this
solemn liturgy the Church presents us a great number of read-
ings and two masses, one for the Vigil (Saturday evening) and
another for the day (Sunday). In each of those, there are op-
tions for readings. This shows us both the importance of this
Solemnity and the number of passages in Sacred Scripture that
refers to the Holy Spirit.
Besides all the readings for the liturgy, this great feast of Pen-
tecost is rightly considered a celebration of the church’s birth.
It was on this day that the first followers of Jesus Christ were
empowered by the Holy Spirit to go out into the world and pro-
claim the Good News in both words and deeds.
What, if anything, does this birth story say to the church, today? In his apostolic exhortation, Evangelii Gaudium,
Pope Francis speaks to the contemporary challenge presented by the Pentecost experience: “At Pentecost, the Spir-
it made the apostles go forth from themselves and turned them into heralds of God’s wondrous deeds, capable of
speaking to each person in his or her own language. The Holy Spirit also grants the courage to proclaim the newness
of the Gospel with boldness (parrhesía) in every time and place, even when it meets with opposition.” (no. 259)
Celebrating the Church’s birth is to celebrate its mission: to go forth to the whole world. We have received the Holy
Spirit in Baptism and in Confirmation we realize that the many gifts we received are to serve the “Mission” of the
Church. We pray that the Church and all of us will continue to “go forth” and proclaim the message of Jesus to the
entire world.
On April 16 a strong earthquake stroke Ecuador. The Scalabrinian Missionaries have a mission in the port city of Man-
ta, one of the places heavily affected. To help out the people, especially those who lost basically everything, we will
send the proceeds of our second collection of May 22 to help out these people. The funds we collected will be send
directly to the missions and used for that purpose only, no other agencies will be involved other than the Scalabrinian
Congregation, so there will be no administrative costs and the full amount will go to the needy. Thank you for your
generosity and God bless you and your family.

A Prayer shawl or prayer blanket is a gift of love that brings hope, comfort and peace during difficult times. When a person is
cloaked in a prayer shawl or drapes a prayer blanker over their lap, it serves as a reminder of the healing mercy and compassion that can be found in God’s loving embrace. A prayer shawl or blanket may calm you when you are upset,
remind you that you are loved, and that your guardian an-gel is always watching over you. All shawls and blankets are blessed and are made by the caring hands of the women
in the Sewing Ministry of our parish. If you or someone you know would like a prayer shawl or blanket, please call Kathy Korbelak at 407-619-8059. There is no charge for a shawl or blanket.

RECEBEI O DOM DO ESPÍRITO SANTO
Voltando ao Pai, Jesus envia o
seu Espírito Santo sobre seus
discípulos. Nasce a Igreja. A luz
divina brilha em nós. Tudo se renova.
O medo cede lugar à coragem
evangelizadora. Com ardor
missionário, as fronteiras
desaparecem e todos os povos
podem receber a Boa Nova da
salvação.
O Pentecostes é a certeza do Poder do Alto que sustenta todo
