According to General Statistics (GSO), Vietnam earned nearly USD 8 billion from exports of mobile phones and spare parts in the first quarter of 2014. In addition, there are remarkable signs that Vietnam is attracting more investments to electronics industries. Key foreign investments included: • South Korea’s Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. is considering investing more than $1 billion in a third consumer electronics factory in Vietnam, an increasingly important manufacturing base for electronics companies. • LG Electronics (LGE), with total capital worth $1.5 billion, plans to produce household electric appliances, hi-tech electronic products, automobile electronic components, and smartphones at the Hai Phong-based Trang Due Industrial Park. • Haesung Vina, another Korean firm, also inaugurated its second plant, which specializes in producing Samsung’s smartphone cameras, at the Vinh Yen-based Khai Quang Industrial Park. • Nokia planned to move production from the Chennai plant to other plants and preferably Vietnam plant.

“I think the standard of Vietnamese hand soldering skill is very good. Last year, the champion of hand soldering technician got third place at the world championship in Las Vegas, USA. So, Hand Soldering Competition will be organized once again to seek the best technician in Vietnam this year,” said Mr. Raymond Foo, S.E. Asia Representative of IPC - Association Connecting Electronics Industries.

Over three days, participants will compete against each other to build a functional electronics assembly within a time limit. Assemblies will be judged with IPC-A-610E Class 3 criteria, and IPC-A-610 by Master Instructors.

Prizes Cash awards will be given to the winner and two runner-ups. The winner will also get the chance to compete at the IPC World Championship at IPC APEX EXPO® in Las Vegas, Nevada in 2014. IPC reserves the right, in its sole discretion on selection of the participants.

“Tôi nghĩ rằng các tiêu chuẩn kỹ năng hàn tay của Việt Nam là rất tốt. Năm ngoái, nhà vô địch hàn tay của Việt Nam đứng vị trí thứ ba tại giải vô địch thế giới ở Las Vegas, Mỹ. Vì vậy, cuộc thi Hàn tay sẽ được tổ chức một lần nữa để tìm kiếm các kỹ thuật viên tốt nhất tại Việt Nam trong năm nay “, ông Raymond Foo, Đại diện khu vực Đông Nam Á của IPC - Hiệp hội liên kết công nghiệp điện tử cho biết.

Trong ba ngày, các ứng viên tham gia sẽ cạnh tranh với nhau để lắp đặt một bảng điện tử chức năng trong khoảng thời gian có hạn. Các sản phẩm sẽ được đánh giá theo tiêu chuẩn IPC-A-610E loại 3, và IPC-A-610 bởi các chuyên gia.

Giải thưởng Giải thưởng tiền mặt sẽ được trao cho Quán quân và hai Á quân. Quán quân cũng sẽ có cơ hội để cạnh tranh tại Giải vô địch IPC Thế giới tại triển lãm IPC APEX EXPO ®,Las Vegas, Nevada vào năm 2014. IPC bảo lưu quyền lựa chọn ứng viên.
