Principal’s Report (continued)

Parent Actions• Please teach your child about keeping their hands

clean and to avoid touching their face and mouth with their hands.

• If your child is unwell please keep them home. This includes if they have the common cold and if your child is coughing.

• If your child and or family has been overseas, you will need to self-isolate for 14 days.

• If you know a school family who isn’t self-isolating after overseas travel, please report to the school.

STOP PRESS - Interviews Early Term 2 At our recent staff meeting, we discussed Parent / Teacher Interviews and possible alternatives. All staff were unanimous in wanting to maintain face to face interviews. They value meeting parents personally and forming a connection. They also value being able to share samples of student work when talking with you about your child. We therefore have decided to postpone interviews until early Term 2.If the situation has not improved by then, we will inform you of an alternative solution. The good news is that teaching and learning will be our sole focus. We will keep in touch as new information/advice becomes available.

Year 7 / 8 Transition

The registration of interest process for Year 7 students applying for entry into high school in 2021, is to be completed by parents online and available from the beginning of Term 2. A letter with clear instructions on how to complete the online form, will be coming home with your child in the following weeks.

It is VERY important for the smooth operation of this process to have the correct contact email address, of both parents/guardians and the correct residential address (of the student) on our records at Nailsworth Primary School.

Our zoned high schools, Roma Mitchell (Co-Ed) and the shared zone of Adelaide High School and Adelaide Botanic, are under the CMP (capacity management plan) of the Education Department. These schools are only accepting students in their zone.

Please find below the proof of residence criteria that is needed to change your address details with Nailsworth Primary School and you will need to provide to your allocated high school before they confirm the enrolment of your child.

• Parent owns their home: A copy of the contract of sale for the property or a recent council rate notice, and a recent gas or electricity bill for that property.

• Parent rents their home: A rental agreement and a bond receipt lodged with Consumer and Business Services showing the current place of residence. The rental agreement must cover the first 12 months (eg entire 2021 school year) that the student will be attending the school and a recent gas or electricity bill for that property.

School Incursion Cancellations for Term 1 Unfortunately, we have had to cancel all school incursions for the remainder of Term 1. We are really sorry for the inconvenience. We hope we will be able to reschedule these events when things go back to normal.

Visit from an Oboe Player A group of Year 4 Music students were treated to a visit from Renae Stavely, an Oboist from the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra. The students have been learning about musical instruments, what they are made of, how they are played and what family of instruments they belong to. Students were able to correctly identify the Oboe and listened to Renae play a selection of songs. One lucky student, Dash, was able to have a go at playing the Oboe and was able to produce a great sound for his first attempt. Unfortunately, because this is a wind instrument, we could not offer that opportunity to all students. Renae also joined in with the students as they played together a piece that we have been working on using the xylophones and glockenspiels including taking turns to improvise. (See
