Welcome to My Pearson Training.

Today, we’ll look at the various assessment opportunities in myPerspectives™ and how the program links assessment to instruction so that you can teach thoughtfully and responsibly.



Balanced Assessment System

myPerspectives helps you establish a balanced assessment system. It allows you to see where students are in their learning and to identify gaps so you can help them achieve more!

Backward Designed for Success

The unit structure in myPerspectives is backward designed so that all the activities align with the end- of-unit Performance-Based Assessment.

The Performance-Based Assessment builds on the content knowledge, process skills, and learning habits that students have developed throughout the unit.

Students will gather their notes, evidence, completed activities, and Performance Tasks for the Performance-Based Assessment.

Assessment Types

Year-long and unit-level assessments assess students’ understanding and application of skills and knowledge.

The assessments can be administered in print and online at Pearson Realize™. ExamView® software is also available so you can customize tests to meet the needs of all your learners.

Let's take a closer look at each assessment type.



Year-Long Assessments

Year-long assessments produce data points to help measure progress, inform instruction, and provide remediation as needed. The assessments consists of Beginning-of-Year, Mid-Year, and End-of-Year Tests.

Unit-Level Assessments

Unit-level assessments serve as both formative and summative opportunities to monitor students’ progress.

The unit-level assessments include Selection Activities and Tests, Formative Assessments, Performance Tasks, Unit Tests, and Performance-Based Assessments.

End-of-Unit Reflection

The End-of-Unit Reflection provides insight into students’ thoughts about their progress toward Unit Goals, the application of Learning Strategies, and the texts they’ve read.



Next-Generation Assessments

myPerspectives also provides program-agnostic assessments with next-generation technology assessment formats.

These technology-enhanced items give students the opportunity to practice next-generation assessment formats so that they are prepared to be successful for online interactive testing.

Students will encounter various next-generation item types, including Evidence-Based Selected Response, Technology-Enhanced Constructed Response, Prose-Constructed Response, Selected- Response, and Constructed-Response.



Class and Student Data

The Data tab on Pearson Realize can help inform your instruction. You can instantly access student and class data that shows standards mastery on assessments and online activities, as well as overall progress.

You can dig deeper with additional data points to reveal more detailed information on student mastery, progress, and usage.

You can also view data for individual students from the class assignment list.
