Budget• Salaries and overheads cost £105,000 and the rent costs £12,000. Our

graduate graphic editor will be paid £19,500 per year and we will also have two full-time designers that will be paid £25,000 per year. We have two part time admin staff that will be paid £12,000 each.

• Our freelance payments include photographers and writers, we will pay the photographers £15,000 per year for working one day a week. Writers will be paid £30,000 per year, coming up to a total of £45,000 for our freelance payments.

• The budget for marketing is £52,900 a year. This will be spent on advertising and promotion. As my magazine is a fashion magazine, we would need to attend fashion events such as fashion weeks, fashion talks and the Clothes Show. Merchandise such as leaflets, mugs, t-shirts and business cards would also need to be paid for.

• £2,300 per issue totals up to a yearly printing cost of £27,600.• The cost for administration is £9,500 overall. The majority of this will

go towards IT as the staff would need high quality equipment and softwares etc. such as iMac’s. The admin staff will also have to be supplied with all their equipment and stationary.

Schedule & Production Plan

It was very important to put together a tight schedule. The magazine schedule fitted around a typical monthly magazine strategy that involved having a start date just before the publication of the previous months edition.

The schedule would then follow a format so that completion was just as the magazines went to the print shop for the next edition.

This particular would have a launch date as June because it is a summer edition.

Target Audience

• The target audience for my magazine is young to middle aged women, teenagers to early thirties, that have an interest in fashion, celebrities fashion and beauty. Also, people that like to stay up to date with the latest trends and like to shop as well. They are career women who are trendy and up-to-date. They typically live in the city. If they drive they drive a Fiat 500. They have money to spend and like spending it. They drink skinny Latte and eat in the most fashionable restaurants.

• From my research I found the average fashion magazine reader prefers shorter articles, therefore I will try to make my articles shorter, straightforward but interesting. From most interesting to least, fashion magazine readers find the latest/most popular trends, interviews, shopping guide and celebrities fashion the most interesting and beneficial. According to the results from the survey, freesia is the most popular colour this summer/spring, therefore I will be using this colour throughout the house style of my magazine. The readers do not find the average price of a magazine (£5) too expensive, however I will only charge £3.
