A trip to Munich

MunichIs the capital and also is the largest city of the German state of Bavaria. It is located over the Isar river, which is on the north of the Bavarian Alps. About 1.42 million people live in this city, one of the reason is because is the city with high quality of Germany.

Munich was the host city of the 1972 Summer Olympics. In 1506, Bavaria was reunited in order to Munich being the capital.

The Frauenkirche is a very important church of Munich and Europe because of his architecture. Is a lutheran church from the baroque period. It´s a landmark and is considered a symbol of the Bavarian capital city. It offers a unique view of Munich and the nearby Alps.

Alte PinakothekThe Alte Pinakothek is an art museum situated in the Kunstareal in Munich. It is one of the oldest galleries in the world and the houses are one of the most famous collections of Old Master paintings.The museum is part of the Bavarian State Picture Collection, an organization of the Free state of Bavaria.

Munich ResidenzIt´s the old royal palace of the Bavarian monarchs which is in the city centre of Munich. The Residenz is the largest city palace in Germany and nowadays is open to visitors. People usually go for its architecture, room decorations, and displays from the former royal collections. It have the jewels of the Wittelsbach dynasty which today are exhibited in the Schatzkammer.

Englischer GartenThe Englischer Garten, is a large public park in the centre of Munich, stretching from the city centre to the northeastern city limits.With an area of 3.7 km2 , it is one of the world's largest urban public parks, larger than New York's Central Park.

Englischer GartenAt the mouth of the artificial stream that runs through the Englischer Garten, there is a standing wave produced by

the water pumping mechanism. Surfers attempt to surf on this wave for as long as they can. The signage states that surfing should only be done by expert or skilled surfers.

GlyptothekThe Glyptothek is a museum in Munich, which was commissioned by the Bavarian King Ludwig I. He want to keep his collection of Greek and Roman sculptures. The Glyptothek contains sculptures dating from the archaic cycle to the Roman age.Today the museum is a part of the Kunstareal.

Theatinerkirche The Theatine Church is a Catholic church in Munich.The church was built in Italian high-Baroque style, the church is 72 meters long and 15.5 meters wide and it have got two towers that measure 71 meters.

Its Mediterranean appearance and yellow coloring became a well known symbol for the city and it had much influence on Southern German architecture.

Allianz ArenaThe Allianz Arena is a football stadium in the north of Munich. The two professional Munich football clubs FC Bayern Munich and TSV 1860 München, have played their home games there, at the Allianz Arena.

The Allianz Arena is the third biggest stadium in Germany behind in Dortmund and the in Berlin.

OktoberfestOktoberfest is the world's largest festival held annually in Munich. It is a 16-day festival running from late September to the first weekend in October and it have more than 6 million people from around the world attending the event every year.

The Oktoberfest is an important part of culture which having been held since 1810. Other cities across the world also hold , formed after the original Munich event.
