The Climate Mayors EV Purchasing Collaborative (the Collaborative) is a partnership designed to help accelerate the
electrification of municipal fleets across the country. Through the website (www.DriveEVfleets.org) and staff support, the
Collaborative works to reduce the costs and barriers to electrifying fleets to make it easy for public fleets to go electric.
The Climate Mayors EV Purchasing Collaborative
Driving EV Fleet Transition
Reducing barriers to transition for ALL public fleets (not just cities that are part of Climate Mayors)
• Increasing procurement choice – including innovating leasing options
• Reducing administrative time• Aggregating national demand to lower costs• Helping with pre/post-deployment planning
and training• Offering cooperative purchasing/bundling for
EV charging stations

Performance Ordinance
Why Building Performance?
Climate Smart San José targets a 6.5% reduction in GHG emissions every year for the next 3 decades, and a 34% reduction in total water consumption by 2040
In San José, building energy usage is the second largest source of GHG emissions
Over half of the buildings that will be standing in 2050 have already been built
What is Benchmarking?
Benchmarking: The process of tracking a building’s energy and water use over time, using a free tool called ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager®, to assess how efficient buildings are compared to similar buildings
Policy Benefits: Market Transformation

Community GHG Inventory Update
• 2016 and 2017 Community GHG Inventories are still in
progress
• Current roadblock continues to be working with CPUC
to receive aggregated PG&E data
• Working with ILG to extend Beacon Award application
deadline for SMC cities
• On track to finish all inventories by the end of June
Resiliency for Critical Facilities Scoping Project
• Alameda and San Mateo Counties scoping study for solar+storagemicrogrids on emergency shelter or service centers
• BAAQMD grant with East Bay Community Energy (EBCE)
• Focus on community shelter sites (e.g. community centers, schools, etc).
• 1-year long project
• Project Includes:
• Develop financial model/incentives
• Design & assist in collective solar+storage procurement to begin at the end of the project
Process & city assistance 1. Identify draft countywide list (now)
• Working with OOS to identify county-wide list of facilities
• Cities may provide any lists or plans for community shelter facilities that may be of guidance (ex: community centers)
2. Assess ~10 representative sites for solar+storage potential (June-July)
• PCE may be reaching out to some city staff in the next few months for introductions to appropriate facilities and/or emergency planning folks at the subset of assessment sites
3. Collective procurement (Oct-Dec)
• Cities can refine lists and participate in procurement for solar+storage equipment and installation services
• PCE likely will commit a certain amount of incentive funds or helpful rate designs for facilities who wish to move forward
Join Peninsula Clean Energy’s TeamPCE has three open positions -- we are looking for:
