    The Institute of Business Management witnesses something that had never

    happened before at the campus history. A sports car show which was the

    courtesy of Racers Edge who brought in some of he finest of their collection

    to seize the atmosphere at IoBM. Besides the sporty and modified range of

    cars Marketing Society also invited Karachi Bikers, a union of various kinds of

    bikers all over Karachi and yes it certainly did leave everyone amazed towards

    the spectacular moments at IoBM.

    From KAWASAKIs brand new bikes to YAMAHA; from Nissan outclass racing

    cars to Toyota mind-blowing stunning cars. It was no doubt an eye popping

    moment which no one wanted to miss. Everyone wanted to have a picture with

    the cars and especially boys, how can they miss it! Posing with the cars and

    taking snaps to make sure they dont miss out on anything.

    The crowd experienced an ever remembering moment of their life. It was the hard work of the MS team which

    made it possible and the support of their followers. It was a sense of honor and pride for the society that they

    had captivated the attention of not only the students but also everyone who passed by including the faculty and

    management. The most successful and unique open house IoBM ever experienced. We wish to make our institute

    proud and do every possible task to satisfy our supporters and followers. CHEERS!

    Good News! Marketing Society becameone of the most prestigious societies of

    IoBM in the past year since its re-launch. It has successfully conducted

    events for the betterment of the Insti-tute and to involve students in a waywhich promotes experiential learningalongside fun and enjoyment. Further-more, we appreciate the efforts of our

    counterpart societies who are alsoworking for the image of this Institute.Be it Leadership conferences, charity

    concerts, first-ever rappelling or a megaSpring festival, they are all what we areknown for. May we all keep entertain-

    ing people in much more effective ways

    Marketing Society of IoBM held a FIFA com-petition for all the football fans out there in

    the university. It was a two day activity as apart of the open house and the activity cen-tre was all decorated according to football

    theme.

    The competition was on XBOX 360 andthe response was brilliant from the studentswho wanted to show their skills in the big-gest football game. The registrations forthe tournament began a week ago beforethe event and the limited seats were sold

    out a day before the registration deadline.

    There were 6 groups, each group consistingof 4 players and all of the groups were

    made according to the free slots of the stu-dents. The students enjoyed the competi-tion and all the matches were played in bril-

    liant spirit.

    On the second day, all the knockout fixtures took place as the activity centrewas crowded with spectators enjoying the intense gaming. The tournamentwas won by Rahim Mitha while the runner up was Rana Muhammad Hamza.Both the players received their awards at the end of the day. All the partici-pants were also given the coupons of OPTP, our sponsor for the event and

    were also provided free soft drinks.

    It was the biggest ever FIFA competition held in CBM and the brilliant re-

    sponse of students motivated the Marketing Society to announce another

    FIFA competition for the next year.

    Living up to the promises the marketing society made, we were able to pull of asensational open house at IoBM.

    The hard work of the MS team paid off when on the day of the open house thestudent activity center was all geared up and ready for what was yet to come.

    A two day action packed open house on 30th and 31st of October was inaugurat-ed by the renowned Mr Hartmut and our beloved faculty advisor Ms KausarSaeed .

    The festivities continued and some of the famous celebrities came to entertainthe students of IoBM and to give MS their well wishes. These included the stun-ning Bilal and others. Who left the crowd cheering and overwhelmed.

    Followed by an exciting and nail biting FIFA tournament which made the boys gohead over heels while they were glued to the LCDs competing away with eachother. The winner received a prize of 7000rps and the runner up got the prizeof 4000rps.

    Moreover, discount coupons of the famous Fast-Food joint, One Potato Two Potato were distributed among the partici-pants because it Marketing Society, we believe that everyones a winner.

    This is not all we even managed to put together the showcase of luxurious cars and bikes for all the students to be mes-merized and dazzled by them.

    We were able to exceed peoples expectation that more than 100 people applied and want to become a part of the MSfamily. Not only were we able to impress the students but we also left a mark on the staff, when we managed to inspire

    creativity in the cafeteria guy who wanted to use our lanterns for decorating his churchHowever, this was just a glimpse of what MS has to offer for the coming year and so on. So all of you reading and staytuned.

    Markeng Society managed to successfully hold a seminarto highlight the role of Markeng in Polics. The event tookplace on the 26

    thof March 2014 in the IoBM auditorium. The

    panel was graced with the presence of key leaders of threetop polical pares of Pakistan, PML (N), PTI and MQM. Thepanel included Mr. Raja Ansari from PML (N), Mr. Imran Ismailfrom PTI, Mr. Faisal Sabzwari from MQM, who also happensto be the current Opposion Leader of Sindh Assembly, andaccompanied with the renowned Independent Candidatefrom NA 250, Mr. Jibran Nasir. The panel discussion was mod-erated by Mr. Mahmood Nanji, a big name in the eld of Mar-keng, with sucient experience to have a league of his own,also the current CEO of Ulker Foods.

    The seminar was hyped up by several pre-event in-house ac-vies among which the most prominent one was to drive thestudents to stamp their thumb impression on a ballot paperwhich contained the names and electoral symbols of the po-lical pares whose leaders were to aend the seminar. Theacvity which was labeled as CBM Votes, turned out toaract a lot of aenon and approximately 500 students had casted their vote. The stascs of the results were displayed infront of the panelists on the event day.

    Surprisingly, the turnout was much more than we ancipated. Seats, stair steps, corners, oor, you name it and it was lled withpeople; the enre auditorium was a full house to the extent where, an hour into the seminar, students were actually refusedentry into the auditorium and doors had to be reluctantly closed with a member guarding them due to the overly aendanceinside the hall. The Rector of IoBM, Mr. Talib Karim was noted to have said, The auditorium has never been this full! The Mar-keng Society had been assured that the event is a complete success in terms of aendance.

    The riveng discussion between the four panelists and their moderator lasted for almost two hours. They debated on naonal,polical, and social issues but made sure that markeng remained the theme of their discussion throughout. The long lasngdebate was followed by a short Q&A session by the future marketers of IoBM. The event also received a great amount of media

    aenon due to its polical essence. It was covered by leading news channels i.e. Geo News and Ary News and was reported inseven newspapers including Jung, Tribune and Daily Basharat.

    The enre team was treated by a hi-tea, which followed the seminar. The arrangement was joined by the courtesy of Mr. FaisalSabzwari and Mr. Jibran Nasir and students of IoBM took complete advantage of the opportunity to capture snapshots withtheir favorite polical leaders. The guests were cordially seen o and were presented a plaque of appreciaon and thanks, ac-companied with a copy of the societys own magazine issue, Dimensions.

    The red and exhausted faces of the members were reminisced in joy and that was the moment when they all saw their eventcovered in the news bullen of the 9 pm news. This was the moment when they realized that hard work surely pays o.

    We most certainly intend to serve and fascinate our fans and work for the beerment of our Instute just like this for all mesto come.

    Marketing Society understands the im-portance of Social Media in the modernera and has a separate department to

    work on social media. Marketing Socie-ty is the only society in IoBM that hasan official LinkedIn page and that gives the society the professional image in themarket. Facebook page keeps the people updated about any events or promotionsor any big decision in the society while the Twitter page is a brilliant source of me-dia for live updates on the day of the event.The recent seminar on Role of Marketing in Politics was covered brilliantly on thesocial media by the social media team. The promotion was visible on Facebook,Twitter and LinkedIn before the event and live tweeting took place throughout the

    two hour event.

    The response on Facebook was exhilarating as likes on the page increased at morethan a 100% rate while the engagement of people on the Facebook page also in-

    creased at a rate of 150%.Tweets of the Marketing Society page were retweeted by people like Muhammad

    Jibran Nasir and Faisal Subzwari which resulted in a wide coverage. The LinkedInPage was also kept updated which highlighted the potential of Marketing

    Society to various companies on LinkedIn.

    Marketing Society of IoBM gets represented at one of the most in-fluential areas of Karachi. The headquarters of Muttahida Quami Move-

    ment (MQM), commonly known as Nine Zero, were hosts of an educationaltrip offered to Marketing Society on Saturday, 5thApril 2014. To manyof us, the term, Nine Zero sounds quite familiar, yet out of the ordinary,perhaps not the ideal place to spend your Saturday. However, the tourwas in fact, one of those initiatives taken by MQM in recent times toeliminate the negative perceptions about their party that exist withinthe youth of this city.

    The tour started off by going through the famous Jinnah Ground and LalQila Ground which continued till Khursheed Begum Secretariat, a memo-rial building constructed in the name of the mother of Mr. AltafHussain,. Surprisingly, as we reached there, our sights caught the re-nowned figure of MQM, also a present MNA, Mr. Farooq Sattar, whowelcomed us pleasantly at Nine Zero and shared a few thoughts relating

    political and national issues and also acknowledged our reservations. Theshort meeting concluded with a group photo.

    The tour continued with visiting the house of Mr. Altaf Hussain; the realNine-Zero, a 120-yard house after which the entire area is named. Thecoordinators were kind enough to show us inside, a chance that not many visitors get. Adjacent to it, was the Media Cell, in whichworkers are constantly monitoring the media activities of the party and most importantly Social Media. The Media Cell is one of itkind, having almost 50 screens, each having a different news channel on it, which are monitored 24/7.

    After almost two hours, it was time for the real purpose we came for, a one-on-one discussion with the representatives of MQM. were taken to the press conference room, generally used as a meeting room for most visitors including politicians, where our anxieand excitement was met by Mr. Wasay Jalil, the Deputy Convener of the Central Coordination Committee of MQM. Later, we werejoined by Mr. Haider Abbas Rizvi, also a member of the Coordination Committee and a senior politician in the party. Together theytalked about MQMs history, its evolution as one of the significant parties of Pakistan and the problems it faces today. The meetwent on for an hour and a half and the society members were exceedingly thankful towards the humble attitude and the kind gest

    of two of the major leaders of MQM.

    Books written by Mr. Altaf Hussain himself were given to us as souvenirs as we had finally headed towards our exit from the prem

    es after a 4-hour long visit. It was certainly a great experience for the members and definitely an achievement for Marketing So

    ty to have personally met the leaders of today. We look forward towards visiting more places, meeting more people and discussing

    issues just as important to serve the society and stay in the process of learning.

    Marketing Society of IoBM is one of the oldest societies ofIoBM and strives to represent the institute in the best mannerpossible. Our journey to professionalism has had many stepsbut the biggest step towards it was launching the official web-site of the Marketing Society. The initiative was taken to pro-mote the name of the society and institute on the internet andit was a brilliant platform for the society to showcase theirskills and expertise. The website contains information regard-ing the societys vision and pictures of our previous events. Italso has details of our executive council and the procedure to

    The recent initiation of IoBMs City Campus gave Marketing Society a new channel toexpand its operations and work at a larger platform. It is fortunate for Marketing Society

    that we are among the first societies to have penetrated into the City Campus.

    As majority of the student body there consists of executive students, there is very lessextra-curricular activity carried out, but Marketing Society believes that it can work togeth-

    er with these students and can benefit each other productively.

    The Executive Director of Marketing Society, City Campus, Fariya Nisar Ali has a lot thatshe wants to do which can help the society grow both internally and externally. Althoughshe is working with a small team currently but she has blended in well with them. There aremany opportunities that Marketing Society can take advantage of and engage the studentsinto fun-filled and educational activities. The team there wants to conduct a mini brandcarnival which happens to be the signature event of Marketing Society but a miniature ver-sion of the event at the City Campus would help the society to create an impact. This willalso be a great way to provide the students a great amount of corporate exposure whenexecutives from major organizations would come and interact with the professionals oftomorrow. To put a cherry on top, Marketing Society also plans to execute a concert for

    the first time at the City Campus.

    Fariya believes that the drawback at City Campus is that not many students know eachother and the environment is quite sober as compared to the Main Campus. Hence, in

    order to break the ice, such activities are necessary to take place.

    The Marketing Society thanks Mr. Yousuf Sharjeel who is the Head of Department at City

    Campus for his extensive support towards all the activities Marketing Society carry out.

    The members at Main Campus applauds all the efforts of the team at City Campus and

    extend all kinds of support to ensure the positive growth of the society.
