All levels of government are key partners in our work. They play a critical role in addressing the SDOH including poverty reduction.

Ontario Poverty Reduction Strategy

• The province has developed the Ontario Poverty Reduction Strategy: Breaking the Cycle and they are challenging municipalities to develop their own

“the municipal governments are closest to their communities and have tools to respond to the needs of communities. We are asking them to show leadership by putting their resources towards poverty reduction”

• Some municipalities are developing poverty reduction strategies including; CKL and Haliburton, Peterborough, Nipissing, Waterloo, Kingston, Ottawa, Niagara Region etc.

• Steering committee includes leaders from various backgrounds … social, health, legal, housing/poverty coalition members and councilors for CKL and Haliburton County
