Excerpt from organizational leadership paper

Principle Hodges has a position of leadership within the school, so he is obliged to take action under these circumstances, as one rule has to apply for all, therefore he can not just oversee this situation. The article states that Principle Hodges had to “mull over” the situation, which is a good thing, as all leaders should even out a situation, and make sure they have a full overview before a final choice is made. However a final decision has to be draw up, and, as a leader he should implement a defined conclusion on what action should be taken. As the situation did take place on school property Principle Hodges has to step up and rule out a decision. When weighing up the situation Principle Hodges has to hear both sides of the story from the teacher to the students. Starting with the teacher she stated that they were drinking with their ‘backs turned to her’, which means she may have not actually seen them place the bottle to their lips so therefore the evidence may not be viable. However when she took the bottle of them it was found that it contained alcohol, which is clearly breaking school rules, therefore Principle Hodges can use this to support his final decision of action. When looking at the other side of the story the students admitted they were on the wrong, therefore this helped Principal Hodges in his final decision, as it made it clear that the students were in the wrong, helping him as a leader make a valid decision. The fact the police were called also helped the situation for Principle Hodges as he has a formal arrest documented, as well as the parents is able to punish and decide the course of action for students. Although the article states it is an open close case of underage drinking it really isn’t that simple, as the case was high profile. This means the case attracted a lot unwanted attention in the media and throughout the school, which reflects badly on Principle Hodges as a leader. However leaders have to prepared to deal with criticism and questions when heavy media rotate stories as this happen, they have to position themselves as a true leader who knows what he is talking about and is confident in the final decision that was made.

In conclusion I feel Principle Hodges made a good valid decision as a leader, and handled the situation in a good manner. He analyzed both sides of the situation equally with all the information available, and reported it accurately to the authorities and to the student’s parents so fair punishment was taken. In regards to the numerous pressures outside, this is evident when situations like this happen within schools. Personally I feel Principle Hodges carried out the situation in an accurate manner as a leader of not only the school but also a valid adult.

Introduction to a symbolism paper

Women play an important role in society today. Women can lead, vote, work, and take care of a family. They can do whatever a man can but it always this way. Women fought for and gained rights like African Americans, and they worked their way up the political ladder. In the book, The Big Sleep, and the movie, “The Big Lebowski,” women were not treated as they are today. Women were more used as a symbol and an object.
