Healthy Halloween Treatsfor the Classroom

Classroom celebrations are in full swing! As parents, many of us are recieving handouts about Healthy Classroom Celebrations and how schools are working toward making their school envi-ronment healthier. Thanks to local school free lunch programs, many schools are required to implement their Local

School Wellness Policies. They usually include, classroom cele-brations are to follow their school food guidelines with low-fat and reduced sugar treats. What a great way to promote nutrition and wellness in school and at home. Easy tips to make Halloween healtheir, is use fresh fruit &

veggies from the local farmers’ market, give out pencils or erasers as treats instead of candy and make parties a hit with fun physi-cal activity games. Help your child’s teacher make a their classrooms healthier by bringing healthy treats for their healthy halloween celebrations with the recipes below.

Pediatric I’inaRehabilitation Program

The Tuba City Regional Health Care Corporation (TCRHCC) oers a fairly new service called The Pediatric I’ina Rehabilitation Program. This 12-week program strives to promote a healthy lifestyle change through exercise and nutrition education for children aged 10-18. This program is oered through the Physical Rehabil-itation Department, and each session is supervised by a licensed Physical Therapist. The program begins with a physi-cal therapy evaluation to identify limits and decits such as weakness, and/or poor balance. An plan for an exercise program is then established to address the needs. Throughout the 12 weeks, each child becomes

familiar with exercise equipment, develops a home exercise program and skills to attain their goals, and has a fun and creative experience. Our program also works closely with TCRHCC’s dieticians who discuss healthy diet choices. If you are interested in your child attending The Pediatric Iina Rehabili-tation Program, please contact your child’s doctor to see if they qualify and to obtain a referral; this will be sent to the TCRHCC Physical Rehabili-tation Department for a scheduled evaluation to partcipate in the program. For more information contact TCRHCC Physical Rehabilitation at (928)283-2659.
