NEW DELHI, Feb 8:
After weeks of gruellingelectioneering, AAP ChiefArvind Kejriwal today spent arelaxed day watching a movieand sharing quality time withclose family members even as amedia jamboree waited outsidehis Kaushambi residence.
For once, the man tipped to bethe next Chief Minister with exitpolls giving his party clear major-ity, put his duties as a husband anda father first as he spent most ofthe day in the company of hiswife, son and parents. His daugh-ter is a student of IIT Delhi.
An ardent follower of'Vipassana', Kejriwal started hisday by performing a session ofyoga and meditation.
Later he read newspapers andwatched television, while keepinga tab on the social media.
In the afternoon, Kejriwal, aself-confessed movie buff, watched recently released AkshayKumar starrer action thriller,Baby, at a multiplex in Kausambi.
Kejriwal was accompaniedto the 4 PM show by his confi-dants Manish Sisodia andKumar Vishwas. 31 AAP volun-teers were also there.
Clearly in a relaxed moodahead of Tuesday results,Kejriwal also had a special mes-sage for the party's army of vol-unteers as he lauded their contri-bution and asked them to "chill".
"Volunteers. U did an amaz-ing job. Relax for 2 days. Spendwid ur family. Sleep. Watchmovies. Meditate. Chill. Godbless u," he tweeted.
In a different corner ofDelhi, BJP's Chief Ministerialcandidate Kiran Bedi was oncomplete "voice rest" after sheperformed the morning rituals ofworshipping the 'sun god'.
"Good morning Delhi. Everyday is a new day... Only thingconstant and predictable in theSun Rise...," Bedi tweeted.
As the day progressed, how-ever, both the Chief Ministerialcandidates went into a huddlewith the leaders of their respec-tive parties.
Many senior AAP leaderswent over to Kejriwal's resi-dence for a "preparatory" meet-ing around 2.30 PM.
"It was a preparatory meet-ing. The party took stock of thesituation and weighed all thepossibilities that may emergeafter the verdict on February10," a senior leader said.
On the other hand, UnionMinister Nirmala Sitharamanvisited Bedi at her residence atUday Park.
In the evening, she attended areview meeting of the party whichdiscussed the political situation.
Both the leaders slogged dayin and day out for the last fewweeks as part of the intense elec-tioneering in one of the mostfiercely fought Assembly elec-
tions in decades. Before wrapping up his cam-
paigning following a low-keyroadshow in his New Delhi con-stituency, the AAP supremoaddressed as many as 110 ralliesspread over 70 constituencies inthe city.
Kejriwal averaged four ralliesa day, with the first one startingaround 2 PM in the afternooneveryday while the last rally gen-erally stretching till at least 9 PM.
Whereas after being namedas BJP's Chief Ministerial candi-date, Bedi led a series of road-shows all over the city.
But at the fag end of thecampaign, she was seen nursinga "sore throat", which led theAAP to allege that BJP had"gagged" her.
Kejriwal has quietlyremoved himself from the elec-toral frenzy in the past as well.
For example after the LokSabha polls, when he was pittedagainst Prime Minister NarendraModi from Varanasi, he went toa meditation centre at Sohna.
Even after the 2013 DelhiAssembly polls, he left for a'vipassana' retreat and by the timehe returned, AAP had emerged asthe single largest party.
AAP has much at stake in thekeenly-awaited verdict of thepolls, as it could very well turnout to be a "turning point" inIndian politics, according to theparty.
According to political ana-lysts, an AAP victory in Delhi asprojected by pre-poll surveyswill not only halt BJP's jugger-naut but also bolster the opposi-tion to take on the ModiGovernment.(PTI)
