Borderlands of the Danes
By: Becca Denmark’s currency is the Danish krone. The territory of Denmark in-cludes the Faroe Islands and Greenland. The Faroe Islands became a self governing territory within the Danish state in 1948. Denmark’s area is 16,640 square miles. Religion is not a big deal to the Danes. “Borderlands of the Danes” is what Denmark means. Denmark’s flag is named Dannebrog. One of the oldest na-tional flags in the world
is the Dannebrog. The Dannebrog is a red flag with a white Scandina-vian cross, the vertical line in the cross is slightly to the left of the flag. The Danish Army’s are known to have used the raven banner, prior to the use of their flag, the Dannebrog. Denmark pos-
sessed great power of
the Jutland Peninsula,
southern Sweden, and
the island Zealand dur-
ing the time of the Vi-
kings (9th-11th centuries).
For almost 30 years King
Canute united Denmark
and England in the early
11th century.
Fashion in
Denmark in
the 1940’s By: Ari
The fashion in Den-
mark in the1940’s was
old fashioned, the
women wore dresses
and the style of hair was
either curled, braided,
or in a bun.
Their dresses were
very dark colored. They
wore stockings under
their dresses, and sun-
hats when it was sunny.
They wore platform
shoes or a 1 inch heel.
The women covered
most of their skin.
The men were very
sophisticated. They
mostly wore suits and
nice top-hats.
The children wore
uniforms to school, the
boys wore ties of part of
their uniforms; the girls
wore grey skirts, blouses
and vests.
The Resistance Group
By: Anna
The Danish Resistance movement was an under-ground insurgency move-ment to resist the German occupation of Denmark during World War 2.The Resistance group was full of stealing and sabotage and they got captured and sometimes killed for their bravery and courage.
Immediately after the
occupation there were
some attempts to start up
Resistance and Intelligence
groups. Intelligence offi-
cers from the Danish
army, known as “the
princes” channeled reports
to London as early as
April 13, 1940. Ebbe Munk,
a journalist, arranged to
be transferred to Stoek-
holm- the largest city in
Sweden- where he could be
more easily reported to the
British.
