We are proud of you and your accomplishments! The school is privileged to have provided the educational opportuni-

End of School Year Nears –
Friday, May 20 is the last day of this school year. Please take a look at the May School Calendar as there are
many activities taking place during the last few weeks. We would ask that you continue to work with your child as
we complete the end of the school year. It is extremely important that your child stay focused in school and continues
to give their very best effort.
This is the last edition of the Midkota Messenger for this school year. I would like to thank everyone for a great school
year! I appreciate getting to know the people of the Midkota communities. Thanks for your input and helping to
make the school a better place for our young people. Have a safe and enjoyable summer!

The Midkota FBLA season has come to a
close for some of the students that re-
cently participated this past year. It was
a great year for all students and many
enjoyed going to the sate conference held
in Bismarck, North Dakota on April 3rd.
At the conference, students participated
in national business tests, creating a
PSA (public service announcement),
public speaking, job interview, and creat-
ing their very own music video about the
importance of FBLA. The students did
very well at the conference and were
awarded for their outstanding work to a
trip to National FBLA in Atlanta, Geor-
gia. There they will compete for FBLA
team North Dakota. Only the top four
from each category are able to receive
this award. Five FBLA members were
able to receive this and will compete at
nationals this June 27th through July
3rd.

The Midkota elementary students finished up their "cultivating reading" themed reading
month with a celebration. Highlights were reading in the gym, line dancing, "haystacks"
snack, and pie in the face for 2 teachers (Mrs. Stacy Adrian & Ms. Rami Carlson)
by students. Each class's top readers were: Harlie Hoyt, kindergarten (33 books); Haylie
Spickler, 1st grade (65 books); Max Ludwig, 2nd grade (1,465 min); Vanessa Vollmer, 3rd
grade (1,260 min); Jon Aguirre, 4th grade (1,290 min); Garrett Lende, 5th grade (600 min);
Alexis Wells, 6th grade (2,190 min). All of the students did an excellent job and we are so
proud of each Mustang for working hard this month!

Thank you to the following for a “grand” post prom party
for the Midkota students and guests.

like to donate please contact Jo Black @ 785-2126 Ext.24 or
Kelly Otto/ Midkota Booster Club.
Twenty members of the Midkota High School band and choir participated at
the Region 5 vocal and instrumental solo-ensemble contest on April 14 at
Valley City State University. There were two instrumental and fifteen vocal
performances. Starring musicians are eligible to participate at the State
Class B Music Contest at Minot State University on May 7. Those who
earned stars (or “superiors”) were vocal soloists Carson Quam and Joseph Vollmer. The duet,
“Sing With Pleasure” by Joslyn and Cassidy Hoyt also earned a star. The starring large mixed
ensemble that performed “Windy Nights” consisted of sopranos Grace Aguirre, Mikayla
Donohue, Danica Ehlers, and Lauren Topp; altos McKenna Frappier, Victoria Vollmer, Joslyn
Hoyt, and Jakenda Short; and baritones Carson Quam, Joseph Vollmer, Chance Wells, and
John Edland. All other performances received a “1” or “excellent” rating. It was a great day
for the Mustangs!
You will have an opportunity to hear these young people perform their selections at the
spring high school concert on Tuesday, May 10 at 7:30 in the Glenfield gym. There will also be
performances from some of the other ensembles that participated at VCSU. The choir and
band will share their selections from large group contest. Any state medals that are earned at
Minot will be awarded and the parents of the senior musicians will be recognized. Please join
us for an evening full of wonderful music by our talented youth.
