Lone Star College-North Harris has received a Title V grant for Hispanic-serving institutions funded by the U.S. Department of Education for $2,587,367 over five years. The Mi Casa es Su Casa initiative Connects students to the campus community, Acclimates them to the rigors of academic life, helps then Succeed and self-improve for the duration, and prepares them to Achieve and compete in college and beyond.

The goal of the program is to guide students through each of the four CASA phases through three new initiatives:

MI CASA ES SU CASATITLE V INITIATIVES

Connect • Adapt • Succeed • Achieve

• iMALLS (Information technology enhanced Multidisciplinary Academic Learning Lounges) are designed to enhance student engagement and learning outside of the classroom.

• CAST (Center for Academic Success and Transition) connects students to LSC-NH resources to improve academic preparedness.

• MATCH (Meaningfully Aligned Targeted Curriculum/Courses for Hispanic and underserved students) ensures students are receiving best-fit instruction based on proven methods and needs.

Moreover, the Department of Education will award an additional$500,000 at the end of the grant if LSC-North Harris raises $500,000 during the same period to establish a Title V Endowment program through the Lone Star College Foundation. This assures that the college will be able to continue with the programs and initiatives established thorough the grant to better serve our Hispanic students, their families, and the whole college community.
