MGT 190 Capstone Project 1

Dear Mom and Dad,

As you already know I am a very independent women. I have sustained great grades

throughout my education and have stayed out of trouble. Over all my whole education has been a

success. As a reward for my pristine attitude, grades and behavior I think that I deserve a new

bed room. As you also know I am growing up and my style and taste has completely changed.

What was cute when I was little is no longer cute now. I have only had the opportunity to

redesign my room one time and that was in 5th grade. I have matured and am much older now. I

would like a more sophisticated environment before I go off to college. I have made a very

detailed floor plan as well as a cost list from two places where the item can be purchased and a

one-point perspective drawing of the entire room.

To save as much money as possible for college, I kept the cost relatively low for you. The

over all cost is $1120.77. I was initially going off of a $5,000 budget. I have decided to keep my

wood floors that I already have in my room. I feel that it makes the room feel more sophisticated.

I also decided to keep the same night stand because it is still in great condition. I have decided to

change the color from hot pink and lime green to a soft minty green. The reason why I chose this

color is because I read that soft, cool colors are better than hot, bold colors for the brain while

studying, that is why in text books there is not big bold colors all over the pages. Since I am

going to college, I thought that this would be a very good concept to think about. It will play a

big role in making studying easier.

A big key component that I am excited about is the safe. I want a big safe because I will

not be home as much as I used to. A lot of items in my room are very valuable and important to

me and I want to have the self security of knowing that they are safe. Also with my brother

growing up there will be more and more people in and out of my house. I will feel much better if

I have all of my things that are important to me locked up in a safe place. And as you know I do

not like using my bank account for my money, so this will be a great place for me to keep my

money and my expensive jewelry. The other big component that I want to change is my bedding.

I found a beautiful purple royal comforter set at Bed Bath and Beyond and Target. I have also

chosen to add several other small things that you can look in to and ask me questions about later

on.

Overall, I think that I deserve this new room. I am maturing and my old room is not what

I would like it to be right now. I feel that if I was given a new room it would help me study, sleep

and lounge more comfortably because I would not be in a little girl setting anymore. I hope that

you can see why I want to redesign my room. I wanted this process to be as easy as possible for

you so you would be more willing to give me this opportunity. This is the last thing that would

prepare me for college. Thank you for all that you have done for me.
