Pet TalesBy the Naperville Area Humane Society

Bugsy | 13Y 10M | Domestic Short Hair | Male*Just because I'm 13 doesn't mean I'm not still a busy guy. First, I need to check out what's happening out thewindow. Next, I'll see if any closets need looking into. Finally, I'll move on to help you while you're working atthe computer, or whatever else you might be doing. And then there are my naps -- I can't be late for those! Ialways have time, however, for hanging out with you! I'm affectionate, snuggly, and gentle! I do like sometoys, but I like it best when you can play with me. Having someone to care for me who's not away fromhome very much is my dream. Are you that person? Visit with me, and you just might realize that you and Iare meant to be. *My adoption fee is covered through the Paw It Forward Program.

Oscar | 11Y 4M | Beagle Mix | MaleIt's awards season and isn't it everyone’s dream to have an Oscar? While I may not be gold and shiny, I'vebeen told I'm pretty great. I have a very mellow personality, but I can also be very curious, I am a beagleafter all! Speaking of being a beagle, I am true to my breed and can be very vocal. So I probably shouldn'tlive anywhere with shared walls (i.e. apartments, condos, etc.). I enjoy going for walks, but would muchprefer to spend my time relaxing. I need to be the only dog, but could possibly live with a cat. Children in mynew home can be of almost any age, but it would be best if they understood that I need my alone timesometimes. If I sound like the dog for you, start practicing your acceptance speech and stop by soon!

PETS of the MONTH... Please Adopt Us!!!

This may or may not be the right time for you to adopt a new furry family member ormaybe you just want to see if your child’s interest is serious before making a commitment

to an animal. Naperville Area Humane Society’s education programs are a great place tostart!

The Naperville Area Humane Society offers many opportunities for kids to learn aboutand get hands on experience with pets. Our Pets & Kids After School Program beginson September 12 and runs throughout the school year. This six-class program is offered

to kids 8-12 years old on Monday afternoons from 4-4:45 pm.They will learn how to hold and handle animals properly and even get the

opportunity to give a dog a bath! We talk about animal body language andcommunication and then “see” what the animals are telling us on a behind-the-

scenes shelter tour. They get to the nitty gritty part of having a dog or cat and help with cleaning a dog kennel and a cat cage.

There is also an entire session devoted to dog training using positive reinforcement techniques. The childrenwill have an opportunity to use their newly acquired skills when teaching a shelter dog the “sit” and “down”commands.

A veterinarian comes to visit and they learn about what animals need to be healthy and what can happen ifa pet's health is neglected. They even listen to a dog’s heartbeat through a stethoscope after watching theveterinarian give the dog an exam.

At the end of the six classes, the kids receive a completion certificate along with a goodie bag. Each six-week session has a limit of ten children, so sign up today! Registration costs only $60. If you have anyquestions, please contact Kristen Funk, Humane Education Manager at 630-420-8989, ext. 117 or registeronline at www.napervilleareahumanesociety.org.

Jeff Stainer is by far the best realtor I have ever comeacross. I read the other gushing reviews of Jeff hereon Zillow, and my wife and I feel exactly the sameway. He knows the local market very well and Icould not imagine a more responsive agent. Healmost always answers calls, and in the very rareinstances when he can't, he returns the call withinthe hour. Sometimes, I wonder if the man eversleeps. He truly does work HARD to get your homesold at a good price. There were several times whenmy wife and I wanted to reduce our asking price, but amazingly, Jeff convinced us not to, forsakingan easier selling opportunity. He does what is bestfor his clients, not himself. Believe it or not, I'veactually told him that he is working too hard for hisclients. Along with being a great and veryprofessional real-estate agent, he is just a nicehuman being. He instantly becomes a part of thefamily. As happy as we are to have sold our home,we are going to miss working with Jeff. You will notever regret choosing Jeff to represent you.Bala and Alamu R., Naperville

I don't think I've met a person who has workedharder than Jeff did on helping us buying our familyhome. We were referred to Jeff by a friend and afterplacing our first phone call to him, he was over atour townhouse within 24 hours for our initialmeeting. Jeff treated us like old friends though wehad not met him and we knew right away we werein good hands. Jeff worked around the clock for usand always responded to any phone call, email ortext we had within an hour. Most often he wasreaching out to us first so we were never behind inwhat was going on. Our purchase was not an easyone (issues not relating to realtor), but Jeff handledthem with flying colors. He wouldn't take no for ananswer if we came across a roadblock and did notgive up until we got what we wanted. There is noquestion in my mind that we would not have gottenthe house we did if it were not for Jeff. I cannot sayenough good things about him. My spouse and I areso pleased and grateful for Jeff! His work ethic isincomparable.Jim and Katie C., Naperville
