Kia ora koutou It has been a joy to be a part of this place in 2016. We have been through two successful external reviews that have affirmed us for “where we are at” as a College and have also stated their optimism for the future before us. Our confirmed ERO report is available for you to read with the link on our College website. It has also been great to finish with our two prizegivings that have celebrated the achievements of so many of our boys. In our junior prize-giving we put before the boys the challenge to really take a full part in what St. Bernard’s has to offer them…to get involved and support each other in trying new things without fear of failure. If they all do this in 2017 then this College will become even greater.

We thank all of you for the support that you have given us and your sons over this year and wish you all a wonderful Christmas.

The 2016 Leavers mass and dinner hosted by the St Bernard’s Old Boy Association was held on Thursday 3 November. The mass at Sacred Heart Church in Petone was followed by dinner at the Workingmen’s Club, Petone. Both were very

We need the support of our parent community for our International Students Programme. St Bernard’s College has a strong and historical association with Shibuya Makuhari Junior High School, from Tokyo Japan. Each year they send a group of students for a short two week stay in New Zealand where they attend St Bernard’s College and stay with local families for just 12 nights. In 2017 the dates for the Shibuya visit are: Friday 10th March to Wednesday 22nd March 2017. These students from Japan are 14-15 years old, will have some conversational English and are renowned for their politeness and courtesy. They are keen to absorb all things ‘Kiwi’ and in return will share some of their own culture to you. We are looking for 8 – 10 families who could host a student from Shibuya for a 12 night homestay with you and be part of your family for these few days. You will also be paid $480 for the 12 nights they are here. If you can help or would like to know more about the Homestay programme, please contact the college.
