‘Joy’

15th February 1922 - 31st July 2014

Most of you will have known Joy, who was best known for providing us all with

refreshments throughout Thursday evenings and her famous raffles!

Joy joined the club in 1986 with her little Yorkshire terriers Joss and Khalli. Two

years later she came onto the committee where she was a very active and support-

ive member until a few years ago when driving at night became a problem.

Nevertheless she would still come along to club as often as possible, brought by a

very good friend and ex club member Mark.

Joy was also very involved in charity work and helped to raised monies for the

GDBA, she also had young trainee dogs in her home and brought them for train-

ing at the club. Less known was her sponsoring of young children from abroad

and she was very proud of their achievements and would bring photo’s of them to

show us at club.

She was a fiercely independent person who loved to travel to exotic places on her own. The world is a

sadder place without people like Joy

Rest in peace Joy you are greatly missed by all your friends at the club

As I am writing this I know a

few club members are going

through their own personal

crisis at the moment, and I

am sure you will join me in sending our

sincere wishes for a positive and happy

outcome.

IT’S PARTY TIME AGAIN….. 19:30 start

games, tricks, food, quiz,

raffle and the presentation of the

“club Shield and Cup”

FUTURE EVENTS FOR 2015

On the 15th of February we have an away match against Winchester, further details from Shirley will be given in the new year. We are also holding a weekend course run by Kamal Fernandez. Well known in the obedience circle as a very motivational train-er, with his own slant on how to train your dog for competition (his fishing method has to be seen!)

KENNEL COUGH

As many of you maybe aware, we have

had another bout of kennel cough in this

area. This is a highly contagious virus

and can spread rapidly. Whilst some

dogs only have a mild attack, others can

become quite ill.

Treatment can vary from vet to vet, but

all seem to agree that once the dogs have

stopped coughing for week, they are no

longer contagious and fine to mix with

other dogs.

So please be vigilant and if you dog starts

to cough, keep it away from other dogs.
