CAMP LACKAWANNA        Tunkhannock Pa.

For the past 10 years we have enjoyed getting together for a weekend of relaxation, bible study, and recreation.

Camp Lackawanna is located on the banks of the

Susquehanna River between

Tunkhannock and Mehoopany. It offers a

beautiful surrounding,

and plenty of hiking and fishing. The Smyrl Lodge,

where we stay, has a spacious gathering area, full kitchen, and 12 bunk rooms that, because of our enrollment, end up being individual rooms. We have found this retreat to be a time when men/boys fathers/sons can come together for some quality time. The program starts on Friday evening with a supper provided, followed by a Bible Study session and relaxation of games, or watching your favorite DVD. (Bring it along…)

-Side 2 - This year we are going to be having a number of tournaments, that involve card games, video game and bocci ball. Saturday has a breakfast provided followed by Bible Study session. We break around noon for your own idea of what you find enjoyable or relaxing. We reconvene in the later afternoon to eat a cook out supper with meat that you will provide. In the evening we have another bible Study session, followed again by relaxation with the same format as the night before.

Sunday morning

starts off with an

informal communion

service, followed by

breakfast another

bible study session and

more opportunity

for you to find your own thing to enjoy. We

adjourn in the early afternoon. The topics that we will be studying in our 6 hours of study will be a session on the religion of Islam, and a special video course produced by the Lutheran Hour Ministries on being a Christian citizen in our nation featuring Dale Meyer

-Side 3 - We hope that you will find this to be an opportunity to relax with some male companion-ship as well as enrich your study of the Word. Registration is free for all youth under 18. For adults, we ask only for a freewill donation. (We are suggesting $25 just to defray our costs) We look forward to sharing this weekend with you. PLEASE BRING A SLEEPING BAG AND/OR BEDDING FOR A SINGLE MATTRESS. AND TOWELS AND OTHER TOILETRIES. Other items to think about bringing: -your most unique/favorite snack to share -Kayak or canoe -The more desserts and drinks the better!! -bicycles -a board game or some outside games. -fishing equipment -firewood, saw -your bible -video games -favorite DVD, or VCR tapes. -flashlight -binoculars. -treats for a bonfire(s’mores!?)

Directions: From intersection of Business Rt 6 and 29 proceed west on Business or Rt. 6 out of Tunkhannock up the huge hill(mile hill). At this point 6 and business 6 intersect. Continue

-Side 4 - west past Tyler hospital, then past the Fireside Restaurant. Going up the hill you will see a gas station on your left. (This is right before the Rt 87 intersection). Immediately after this station is a road to the left. Turn left and proceed down this  road 4.3 miles to the camp. You can disregard all the “no outlet” signs. The road crosses over a narrow bridge and makes a right. The road will turn to dirt. Continue to the stone pillars of Camp Lackawanna. We will be meeting in the Smyrl Lodge. You proceed down almost to the end of the road. (Do not go up the side of the hill to the main lodge.) Parking is available on the far side of the lodge.
