DESCRIPTION Our HABeR-24 kV switchgear conforms fully to
200 standard and is designed and manufactured utilising state
of-the-art technology, comprehensively taking into account
present and future power system requirements.
Mitsubishi Electric has manufactured hundreds of thousands of
medium voltage panels over the last almost 6
HABeR-24 kV MV Switchgear panel utilises our highest quality
vacuum circuit breaker and vacuum contactor components for
which Mitsubishi Electric has gained a sound reputation.
HABeR-24 kV represents an up-to-date and reliable medium
voltage panel design.
FEATURES
High Reliability
9 Type testing of the HABeR-24 kV was performed by an
independent external testing and certification authority
IEL, in Europe
9 HABeR-24 kV is designed with the benefit of Mitsubishi’s
vast medium voltage panels production experience of
hundreds of thousands of panels over the last almost 60
years.
9 All components, such as current transformers, voltage
transformers and multi-function relays are made of the
highest quality materials.
9 Heat stress analysis of the switchgear structure has led
to a heat-resistant design in which circuit breakers up to
4000A are self-cooled (i.e. cooling fans not required).
9 Strongly reduced number of parts reduces the chance of
failure.
Easy Installation
9 Installation and testing duration are considerably r
duced as the panel is tested and adjusted in the fa
tory and then delivered as a complete unit.
Flexible Design
9 Panels with main circuit and control cable entry from
either the top or bottom are available.

CONSTRUCTION
1. Enclosure and partitions
9 The all-metal enclosure is completely earthed. Each co
partment (control, withdrawable equipment, busbar and c
ble) is segregated from other compartments by earthed
metal partitions.
9 The front of the HABeR-24 kV is divided into
ments. The upper or low-voltage compartment is the control
compartment; the middle one is the withdrawable equi
ment compartment, while the bottom compartment can be
used for maintenance access. (See Figure 4

switches, etc.are semi-flush mounted on the door of the

2. Busbar
9 The main busbar is made of copper
conductor.
9 HABeR-24 kV has bare busbars as stan-
dard. However, when required, the
busbar can be insulated.
9 Furthermore, bus joints – suchas busbar joints between
can be shrouded with insulating covers.
9 Other joints, such as those at the cable terminals, are covered with insula
ing tape.
9 Connecting bars, such as those between busbars and circuit breaker bus
ings, or circuit breaker bushings and cable terminals, may also be optionally
insulated.
9 Tin-plating at joints is standard. Tin-plating of the entire busbar is optional.

3. Vacuum circuit breaker
9 The VCB is easy to operate, with the closing spr
charge indicator, the manual close and trip buttons,
the operation counter and mechanical ON / OFF ind
cator all being located on the front of the circuit
breaker. (See Figure 4-3.)
9 The circuit breaker has two positions, Service and
Test/Disconnected, and may be optionally padlocked at
each position. When the VCB is closed, the VCB locks
in each position by mechanical interlock. When the
VCB is opened, the interlock pin is released.
9 The circuit breaker can be easily drawn out or inserted
by a simple rotation action. (See Figure 4

closed. Unauthorised racking can be prevented by pa
locking the shutter for the draw-out handle aperture.

9 Earthing truck for switchgear
An earthing truck with fault-making capability which has the same operating
mechanism as the circuit breaker.
4. Gas exhaust duct and gas screen
9 For switchgear and controlgear requiring optional Internal Arc Classification
(IAC), thegas exhaust duct must be fitted onto the top of panel. The gas e
haust duct ensures thatin the event of an internal arc fault, any hot gases or
vapours are channelled away frompersonnel in the vicinity of the panel.
9 The gas exhaust duct may extend to the open air. The straight and maximum
two metersdesign, which is standard, is available. The part of extension duct
to reach to the openair will be supplied by others. The design guideline for
them will be shown for consumerconvenience.
9 The gas exhaust duct is dismantled from the panels prior to shipping, and
arere-attached on site.
9 With gas exhaust duct, the switchgear and controlgear are designed to pr
tect personsin the event of an internal arc fault of up to 40kA. Thus, in the
event of internal arcing, there is no ejection of parts, no expulsion of hot
gases (except from the gas exhaustduct) and the enclosure remains earthed.
Minimum clearances of 600 mm, 100 mmand 800 mm from the panel to the
room’s ceiling, side walls and back wall, respectively,ar

In the case of cable
earthing switch is integrated within the

Bus-side earthing switches are usually int

lectrical interlocking with the adjacent
panel’s circuit breaker.
