Which are the Four Medical Options for Treating

Cervical Disc Disease

Cervical disc disease can be treated with four different medicines that are

recommended by expert doctors and these include steroidal and non-steroidal drugs.

One of the main symptoms of cervical disc disease is the neck pain and it is caused

due to the deterioration of the discs between vertebrae, sometimes pinching the

nerves. There are several different medicines for treating this disease, ranging from

pain relievers to anti-inflammatory drugs such as Canadian steroids online that can

help in easing your neck pain while you heal. Depending on the extent of your neck

pain and the type of cervical disc disease, you can either take these medications alone

or use them together with physical therapy or other treatments. Medicines that are

typically used to treat cervical disc disease include:

Acetaminophen

It is also known by the name Tylenol and it is usually the most preferred drug for

treating pain. Acetaminophen help with neck pain, but do not fall under the common

misunderstanding that this drug is completely harmless just because it is readily

available over-the-counter. There has been many research studies conducted on the

regular use of Acetaminophen and it has been found that the regular use of this drug

would liver damage, even in people who take the drug in the recommended levels.

To ensure that you are using acetaminophen as safety as possible, follow the

directions carefully and do not take any more than the label suggests and your

physician recommends. Physicians dissuade their patients not to use alcohol while

taking Acetaminophen to reduce the risks to liver. Also, this drug could be an

ingredient in some other over-the-counter medications you may be taking. You need

to look at all drug labels to ensure that you are taking too much of this drug.

Narcotic Pain Killers

Opioids such as Hydrocodone (contained in Lortab and Vicodin), Codeine

(contained in Tylenol), Tramadol (contained in Ultram), and Oxycodone (such as

OxyContin) can provide significant relief when neck pain is particularly intense and

other non-narcotic pain medications are not sufficient for pain relief. Although

opioids are effective in reducing pain, they should be used with caution as they can

lead to depressed breathing, drowsiness, constipation, and nausea. These

prescription pain killers also have the potential for addiction and abuse when not

taken as directed. Under your doctor’s guidance, narcotic painkillers are best used

over short term duration.

Steroids

Steroids such as Prednisone work by minimizing inflammation, although they can

be taken orally, Canadian steroids online given for neck pain are sometimes

delivered directly to the spine using an injection. Many research studies show that

steroid-based injection does relieve neck pain over the short term, although its

effectiveness for chronic pain is not clear. The most common side effects of these

injections are headache, bleeding, and infection. If you are taking steroids orally

which are generally not used, the side effects include uneven blood pressure,

osteoporosis, and weight gain.

Non-steroidal Anti-inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs)

For reducing both pain and inflammation caused due to cervical disc disease, you

can use non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as Naproxen and Ibuprofen.

Like Acetaminophen, many NSAIDs are available over-the-counter, but they also

need to be taken carefully. These drugs can cause some serious side effects such as

kidney damage, ulcers, and gastrointestinal bleeding, if you are taking them beyond

recommended levels. It is been reported that these drugs are also connected to the

increased risk of heart attack or stroke.

Celebrex which is one of the Cox-2 inhibitors is considered as the next generation

of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs that are available by prescription and may

have fewer digestive side effects. It is important to read the labels carefully and never

take the medicines beyond the levels recommended by your doctor. You will also

want to avoid taking these non-steroidal drugs with certain other medication due to

the possibility of drug interactions. You need to consult with your doctor about all

the medicines you take, and be careful about taking NSAIDs if you are sixty-five

years of age, and/or suffering liver or kidney problems.

If you are looking for Canadian steroids online, make sure that the website is

officially approved by a government agency, sell only those drugs that within the

date of manufacture.
