Health-conscious consumers have long known how im-portant minerals and trace elements are for a properly functioning body.

To supply us with vital minerals, nature has something very special up its sleeve: natural medicinal waters. As a natural remedy, medicinal water has a healing, allevia-ting or preventative effect for a large number of comp-laints. Its minerals and trace elements are highly versati-le. Magnesium is fuel for the heart, and at the same time protects you from aching muscles and muscle cramps; it is regarded as the power mineral number one, because it guarantees the energy supply to the body cells as well as the correct functioning of nerves and muscles - inclu-ding that of the heart and blood vessels. Calcium on the other hand is essential for strong bones, while fluoride hardens the dental enamel.

Sodium, for example, gives back lost salts, hydrogen carbo-nate and chloride also ensure a regulated acid-base balan-ce, sulphate and carbon dioxide stimulate the gastrointes-tinal function. Medicinal water can also be useful even for existing complaints. Depending on the mineral content, it can lower blood pressure, counter kidney stones and osteoporosis, alleviate heartburn and digestion problems, and much more.

Numerous scientific studies confirm the preventative and therapeutic benefit of an extra portion of minerals and trace elements. The effectiveness of wholesome medicinal waters has been scientifically proved; this is why they are officially accredited and may be used after very strict controls.

Fountain of youth or natural memory aid?Medical consultation is always to be recommended be-fore a drinking cure, if you want to play it safe and rule out the possibility of any contraindications. However, the healthy content of the medicinal water is also ab-sorbed directly through the skin, and can thus influence metabolism and vegetative functions, for example. In the medical facilities in Bad Brückenau, full and partial baths, as well as water aerobics, are part of the à la carte programme.

Tried-and-trusted features - rediscoveredThe culture of drinking cures in conjunction with „healing water“ has existed since ancient times. As early as the first century A.D. there were reports of different types of water and their healing effects. Later, doctors settled at these mineral spring health resorts in order to supervise drinking cures and remedies. The professi-on of spa doctor was created, as well as bath and spa studies - balneology. Today this is an important branch of medical science, and drinking cures are integral parts of medical prophylaxis and therapy in Bad Brückenau.

Earth‘s water cycleRain water penetrates the earth soil, seeps through va-rious types of stone and accumulates minerals in deep layers of earth. If it flows through igneous rock, it ab-sorbs carbonic acid, from limestone it absorbs hydrogen carbonate, and from mineral rock sodium, calcium or magnesium. The result is therefore unmistakable, de-pending on the geological composition of the ground.

Healthy and tastes goodThe water from the five medicinal springs in the Bava-rian „Staatsbad“ also seems to be unique in its effect. For centuries it has attracted persons of renown from throughout the world. King Ludwig I, Empress Elisabeth of Austria and Empress Catherine the Great, they all tas-ted the delicious waters, which are also called champag-ne because of their natural carbonic acid content.

Bad Brückenau, established in 1747 by the Fulda Prince Abbot Amand von Buseck, has until this day enjoyed the reputation of a famous spa for kidney ailments - not least because of its outstanding medicinal waters. Its history is inseparably linked to the „discovery“ of the King Ludwig I spring by Dr. Johann Burchard Schlereth, the private physician of the Fulda Prince Abbot at that time, Amand von Buseck (1685-1756). In 1747 the „foun-tain of health“ was opened - Bad Brückenau was born and Schlereth became the first spa doctor.

The King Ludwig I springThis medicinal water is particularly characterised by the well-balanced nature of its minerals, by traces of nitrate and nitrite, and by its higher potassium content in com-parison to sodium.

The Wernarz springThe extremely low content of table salt and sodium and the extremely small amounts of solid mineral com-ponents make the medicinal water from the Wernarz spring very special for kidney and bladder ailments.

The Sinnberg springHealth-conscious people appreciate this particularly soft and delicate medicinal water with its high mineral content and plenty of natural carbonic acid. Thanks to its first-class taste, it has been given the title of „Bad Brückenau Champagne“.

The Lola Montez springMedicinal water from this spring contains an extra por-tion of minerals and trace elements. It is good for the skin, and also has favourable properties for the teeth, hair and nails. In 1847, Lola Montez stayed in Bad Brü-ckenau together with King Ludwig I, who admired her beauty.

The Bad Brückenau „Vital“ springThis medicinal water is valuable for one‘s inner equili-brium and is rich in strength-giving substances, thus restoring used-up energy. Its high carbonic acid content promises an especially tingling drinking experience.

The descriptions of the springs

The King Ludwig I-Spring was first edged 1747, 1965 sinked a borehole to 300 metres of depth, with a very high delivery. The carbonic acidic water with very small bubbles has a high content of iron, calcium and magne-sium, which is well absorbable. It is particularly valuable because the content of potassium is higher than that of sodium.

A litre of water contains:

Cations in Milligramms:Sodium (Na+) 2,8Potassium (K+) 10,4Magnesium (Mg2+) 22,6Calcium (Ca2+) 51,5Iron (Fe2+) 3,54Manganese (Mn2+) 0,29

Anions in Milligramms:Chloride (Cl-) 3,8Sulphate (SO4

The Sinnberger Spring is known since 1749 and 50 met-res deep. A carbonic acid water very similar to the Wer-narzer spring with ample carbonic acid and increased mineralisation, low content of sodium. The small bub-bles, the fizzy character and primarily the excellent taste made it to the „Bad Brückenau‘s champagne“.

A litre of water contains:

Cations in Milligramms:Sodium (Na+) 3,5Potassium (K+) 4,7Magnesium (Mg2+) 5,3Calcium (Ca2+) 13,8Iron (Fe2+/3+) 0,004Manganese (Mn2+) 0,019

The possible uses of these medicinal waters are as varied as their ingredients• For an effective drinking cure, 100 to 1500 ml a day

is recommended over a period of up to six weeks, after consultation with your doctor in order to rule out contraindications.

• As full and partial baths, as well as in water aero-bics, the healthy contents are absorbed directly by the skin and influence the metabolism and vegetative functions, for example.

• An important influencing factor in water aerobics is the water temperature of up to 34 degrees. The high water density affects physical training and strengthens the muscular system, metabolism and cardiac circulation, with an intensifying and at the same time relaxing effect.

Our natural medicinal waters ...• come from underground water resources that are

protected from contamination and are originally pure

• must be of original purity• contain mineral matter by their very nature• must be bottled directly at the source• can show preventative, alleviating or healing

effects• have official accreditation for their scientifically

proved effectiveness• must be bottled under the strictest conditions by
