1. Sophie Carter, Chris West, AimeeSampson and Amy HarringtonOur Idea 2. Our IdeaThe film genre we chose was Musical. We chosethis because it was a common interest within ourgroup and we had lots of starting ideas. We wanted to use the cast of this years schoolmusical Back to the 80s but changed the ideadue to difficulties in securing a date for the entirecast to meet and film. Instead we decided tofocus the opening on a single person (maincharacter) getting ready to go on stage and thenfacing the crowd as the star of the schoolmusical, only for it to be a dream and she thenhas to get ready for her school day (day ofauditions for the actual musical). 3. Target Audience ProfilesWe created a questionnaire to hand around topeople to gather results on the customersinterests and form Target Audience Profiles. The questions we asked were based onage, interest in musicals, purchasing of films andother things based around our idea. 4. Target Audience Profiles The majority of the people we asked were 16-18 year olds howeverthere were contributions from 19-30 year olds and people whowere over 40. We also seemed to ask more females than males. Therefore, when most of the people we asked said that they eitherwatched, or sometimes watched musicals, we can assume thatthere was more of a female influence in the answers. This meansthat our audience is mostly going to be of the female gender, although many boys said they watched musicals also. More peoplesaid that they would rather wait until the price goes down beforepurchasing DVDs. This usually means that our audience is mainlystudents as they dont always have lots of money. This was proved by the fact that more of the people we askedanswered students as opposed to any of the other options. Mostpeople we asked said they found out about new films by the mediaand through friends. Another question we asked was about theirrelationship status. The majority of people answered that theywere in a relationship. This may mean that the audience watchmusicals with their partner and that is something that couplesprefer to watch. 5. Conclusions of ResultsFrom these results we can conclude that ourmain target audience is females (mostlystudents), aged 16-30, that dont like tospend lots of money on brand new DVDs,they are influenced by the media and theirfriends to decide what films to watch andare in some form of relationship. 6. Existing Target Audience Profiles After researching for TAP online, we found apresentation made by another media student... 7. Musical Opening GreaseThe opening sequence of the musical Grease is ananimation rather than real life. The song that isplayed is sung by Frankie Valli and was writtenespecially for the musical. The title for the film is also in this animated style, andthe word Grease is written in casual bubble writinginside the shape of a car (the car which is involved inthe film Greased Lightning). The production namesare written in a professional bold font. The names of the main cast are also written in bubblewriting. Instead of a photo there are drawings of eachof the actors as their characters. 8. Musical Opening GreaseThis animation of Elvis and the screaminggirls I believe is to help the audienceunderstand the time in which the film is setby showing a series of photos and drawingsindicating that it is set in the fifties. The animation of the car is anotherreference to the car included in the musicallater (Greased Lightning). The supporting cast names are displayedon billboards in the animation. They arewritten in the groups the characters are induring the film. 9. Musical Opening GreaseMuch like the Elvis clip, the setting of theanimation includes fifties cars and billboardsto tell the audience when the musical is set.The names of other main participants in thefilms are also displayed on billboards. The animation moves to the two fifties carsbeing followed by a police bike passing thebackground of their school. This shows thatthe characters are in high school. The animation then ends and fades to reallife film when the musical begins. Thisindicates that the story is about to start. 10.
