Story Line O Our thriller opening is about the

disappearance of a girl whilst playing with a balloon in the forest. Even though we do not see the actual kidnapping taking place, by the girl running away and then a sudden blackout, it eludes the idea of the girl being kidnapped. Eventually at the end of the opening we see the search party looking for her and they find her head band.

Target Audience O The target audience from are thriller

opening is people from the ages of fourteen and upwards. The reason why we chose this age range is because we believe from this age we believe that our audience will be able to understand the full aspect of what is going on, and can relate other stories they hear in the current news.

Inspiration O When looking at ideas we could do

for our thriller opening we looked at the title sequence of “The Missing” and “Mayday”. These have helped us create an abstract and naturalistic title sequence ourselves.

Camera Angles O In our thriller film we have decided that we will start our film with a

mid shot of tree braches. The reason why we decided to start with this camera angle is because we wanted to focus on the branches moving to symbolise innocence and to set the scene of where the thriller is taking place.

O We then have a long shot of the girl playing. The reason why we made this our second shot is because we wanted to connote the idea of innocence and to focus where the rest of the setting onwards

O From then onwards we will use a variety of other angles like close ups, bird eye view, high angle, low angles and pans. This will be for the searching of the girl or just to set what is happening and to understand who the girl is.

O Close up will be used in order for the audience to know the facial expressions of the character and extreme close ups to mark a particular moment e.g. the detective picking up the headband.

O We hope that this camera angles will be effective in letting the audience interpret the thriller in their own way.

Costume and make-up O There are two characters in our thriller opening, one being the

main character of the girl. O The girl (main character) will be wearing a pink dress, white

socks and a pink hairband, holding a red balloon. This is to symbolise her girly personality and to highlight her childlike behaviour. She will have on minimal make up on her face because we want her to seem as if she is younger than she actually is, this will be done because it will make her seem naïve to the situation.

O The other character is the stalker. We only see the kidnapper once in the entire opening as we don’t really want to give away the entire narrative. In the shot of the stalker, he will be wearing a black tracksuit. This is to represent he is trying to disguise himself in dark clothes. We will never see his face so we don’t have to worry about the make up of this character.

Location O There are two locations used for our thriller film. They are

both outside locations because we are setting out thriller in the conventional place of a forest.

O First being in a set in an open field, this was used for our night filming because we thought it was a great place to find the clue to the girls whereabouts. Even though it is filmed at night time we can still tell that the place is surrounded by trees we chose this as it would relate to the idea of being isolated.

O The other place is Crystal Palace Park, we use the forest like area to film her running and for when she finds the balloon.

O We thought that these would be good areas to film in as they specifically fitted with the specifications we were looking for when deciding how we wanted to film.

Music O For our music we thought we wanted to create

something that sounded mystery and leads the audience into a false sense of security. We would use contrapuntal sounds as the music will not reflect the action on the screen and will we use the non diegetic sound of the girl breathing to emphasise the desperation in her trying to escape from this stalker.
