Media Photography Unit 31 – Proposal for ‘Get Tech’

The magazine I will be doing will be based on technology and within this I will be looking at technology and the latest breakthrough in tech. The name for the magazine I have come up with is ‘Get Tech’ this name is straightforward and fits in with the technology theme. I will be taking photographs of models with technology and equipment of tech such as the new smart phone these photographs will be easy to capture, as the resources needed are available to me. I will be taking photographs specifically for my front cover which will involve a model holding the technology, the model would be the ‘Inventor’ of the new tech and a double page spread, will focus on the topic from the front page plus it would involve the model in the double page spread and focus on the story which will be an interview about the new tech. This will include photos such as the innovation and link in to the whole magazine. I will also include a tip section for pc/mac users and this would mean images of computers, which I will be able to get hold off.

The general theme of my magazine is technology and so will be my photographs that I will shoot evolving around this theme. The mood for my magazine and the images will be high life style as I will be looking at the inventor of the next generation device and he is a big star. The font cover is going to link into my feature article and will contain various images that I may combine together from the studio shoot or location shoot. I will be taking images of a model this model will be my main attraction in fir the front cover and the I will be taking thing in the studio, another image I will be doing will be a office theme this will be a room that represents an office look this will include computers and other office type items. I would be doing a double page spread and for this I will be taking a picture of the model and also a location photo-shoot.

The magazine will have simplistic look and the models costumes and props will reflect this theme, the magazine will be about tech and the images I will be taking will have a smart and simple look. I will be using a simple verity of colours nothing to vibrate this is because the out look of my magazine will be a straight forward simple look making that the images I will have works with the colour of the magazine and the content I will provide will be easily positioned and readable. The magazine colours will match with the models clothing and the same theme will be kept keeping the magazine together. The models will have straightforward formal clothing, as the magazine will focus on displaying content to audience in simple way. The font will fit in with the theme and I will use a relevant font that will work with the look of the magazine and the images will not conflict with the font.

Equipment -

I will need a various range of equipment for my photo shoot; I will be doing a studio shoot and a location shoot. The camera I will be using is a canon 600 D (18-55mm) I will use this camera to capture the photos for my magazine and the lens will able to take shots such as close ups and wide shoots. I choose this camera it is a standard camera for a photo shoot and will work well. I will also be using a photographic background for the studio shoot and the colour I will be using is white. I choose the white colour as it will work with the model and the clothing colour and will make it easier to edit in Photoshop. I will be using a studio to take my photos as well as a location and for the studio will use 3 point lighting this will enable me to capture better and experiment with the shoot. I will be also using a tripod to take my photos for my location shoot this will able to me to take clear and stable photos I will also use the tripod for the studio shoot.

The props I will be using is a Mobile Phone for the studio shoot and I will be using a pair of cables. The model will be dressed in a formal suit and will not wear any branded items. He will be wearing a black suit. These are the props I will be using for my shoot.

Schedule and contingency plan –

I will be taking a wide shot in the studio and this will be of my model on a white background and this will be take around 3 minuets from 9:45 to 9:47 to capture on this I will also be doing a mid shot in the studio and this will be of the model and take around 3 minuets, 9:47 to 9:50. In the studio I will also be doing a close up/mid-shot this will be of equipment/props with the model which I will be bringing in and I will do this at 9:50 to 9:55 taking 5 minutes. I will also be doing a mid-shot this will be of the model using the product and I will take 3 minuets this will be around 9:55 to 9:58 and a close up of the device, which will take 2 minutes and be done at 9:58 to 10:00.

The studio shoot will be done on the 21.01.2015 and I have booked the model for this day. They have signed the contributes release form. I will be taking the photos in the studio at 9:45am and the dress code for the model is formal like a suit. The props I will be using is a mobile phone, chair and cables this is part of the theme for the magazine. I will be using the white photo background to take the photos I need. The equipment I will use is a camera and a tripod to take a stable image.

I will also be taking a location shoot this will consist of me doing varies shots such as a wide shot I will do this at my location and it will take me 10 minutes this will be from 1:00 to 1:10. I will do the location shoot at the end of the school time and I will also be doing a close up this will done on the same day, my second shot will be a mid-shot and will be 10 minutes, 1:10 to 1:20. My third shot will be another wide shoot this will take place in the media room and take 10 minutes carrying on form my last shot 1:20 to 1:30. I will do a close up of the electrical devices and this will take 15 minutes, 1:30 to 1:45. I will also be doing a mid-shot and this would carry on and take 15 minutes and take me to from 1:45 to 2:00.

The studio shoot will be one of my places to take photos for my magazine and I will use the studio to take photos because it will let me capture using a green screen with this I will later use the editing process to edit the photos. The studio also has lights and with the photographic background I will be able to take clear and professional styled photos.

Location shoot – My location shoot will be done at Heath Park, this is because the photos I need I will be able to capture as they work with my magazine theme. The location shoot is in the media room and the risk assessment will minimize the effect of danger towards my photo shoot.

If my location shoot becomes unavailable on the day I will then have to go the next day and get my photos taken. However bad weather will not affect my shoot, as I will be taking the photos inside for the studio shoot and location shoot. The studio shoot can be affected with the amount of people so if it becomes overbooked I will then have to choose a different time. Also while doing the shoot my camera can break or batteries will die out this would delay my time and take longer to take the photos however having a spare battery and keeping the camera in my care and not leaving it unguarded will enable me to do my work without anything happening. If I need more time to take my shoot I will need to then book more time for the studio and if I’m using location I will have to revisit the location another available time.

Legal and ethical -

I will have a model staring in my magazine and I will need to get there permission and have them sign a release form or I will not be following the copyright law also I will need permissions for the location I will be using or I will be on someone else’s property as this is a legal issue. Ethical and legal issues I may also face is the photos I will take and these may include photos models and if I don’t use a release form to have their permission I will not be able to use it also for my location shoot taking public photos will need me to have permission. I will also have to take into consideration the child working hours, as I will be using a model under the age of 16. I will also have to look into the brands and try and ask for permission to use brands such as Nike etc. The different brands will have to be avoided this will mean checking everything such as clothing.
