Gretsch-Unitas Group

With its forward-thinking inno-

vations, the Gretsch-Unitas

Group has long been shaping

the market and setting pionee-

ring standards. Convenience

and security are given the high-

est priority when opening and

closing doors and windows.

Quality for more

than 100 years

For more than a century and all

around the world, our systems

have been helping to prevent

hazards, to reduce risks, to

limit damage and to protect

both people and property.

More than just products:

planning, implementation,

service

Our service portfolio com-

prises planning, implemen-

tation and service.

Sophisticated mechanics and

intelligent electronics are the

perfect partners within this

context. In particular, our

mechatronic products off er a

multitude of new design op-

tions and extra user benefi ts.

System solutions as an entity

The latest market requirements

are met with our extensive

range of new mechanical pro-

ducts, all of the highest quality.

Table of contents

The product and its advantages are at the forefront of everything we think and do.

The people who benefi t most from this are our customers, for

whom we are constantly designing new and reliable systems and

whom we can off er tailor-made solutions for the specifi c buil-

ding application concerned. Following the Group's key principle

of “Securing technology for you”, we attach great importance to

the topic of mechatronics in order to provide for future-oriented

project solutions. Our considerable product spectrum allows

the fulfi lment of the most diverse project requirements when

it comes to controlling access authorisations related to times,

persons, and areas: from the access to company grounds or to

the interior of buildings right through to any entrance outside or

within a building.

The combination of access control systems and escape door locks

is relevant where the protection of material assets and data is

required on the one hand, and the safeguarding of people on

the other hand, e.g., in airports or banks. High-grade mechani-

cal master key systems already installed can be retrofi tted with

electronics in a short time, thus benefi tting from the technical

enhancement.

Whatever the requirements may be at particular locations, to-

day's project doors can fulfi l diff erent demands at the same time,

be it access control, escape door security, burglar protection or

barrier freedom.

Self-locking locking systems with panic function

Series 19/21, mechanical

The locks of series 19 and 21 offer the highest level of security

and functionality and, through their VdS approval, are particularly

suitable for burglar inhibition doors. Moreover, their suitability

for fire protection and escape route doors according to the new

European standards opens up completely new options when it

comes to conceiving and designing lock systems.

Performance features

■ Automatic locking of latchbolts and deadbolts

■ No need to lock the door by key

■ 20 mm latchbolt and deadbolt throw

■ Panic functions: B / C / E

■ Series 19 available from 35 mm backset

■ Series 21 available from 55 mm backset

Series 19/21, with monitoring contacts

If fitted with monitoring contacts, the locks of Series 19 and 21

are suitable for contract use.

Latch: To monitor passage, a checkback signal is sent to a control

centre as soon as the latch is withdrawn.

Deadbolt: The status of the deadbolt is monitored and a check-

back signal is sent as to whether the deadbolt is closed or not. For

enhanced security requirements, the combination with a separate

door contact is possible.

Follower: A separate rotary switch is monitored on the lock box,

monitoring the level handle. In the case of a monitored door, for

example, a video system can be triggered via the lever handle on

access, recording opening.

Cam: This type of monitoring is sensible for a combination of

escape door locks, as, for example, the can be used for short-term

release of the escape door locking, meaning that a separate exter-

nal key switch is superfluous.

Series 19/21, electrically couplable

The Series 19 and 21 locks can also be used with an electrically

couplable outer handle on 1 or 2-leaf doors with access control

systems. The outside handle is engaged electrically, thus allow-

ing for electrical access control. Activation is possible by means

of door opener button, intercom, time switch, or access control

system.

The lock series also provides electrical lock interrogation

achieved with built-in switch contacts to monitor individual lock

components (latchbolt, levers on both sides, and cylinder cam).

In the event of an emergency, e.g. during a rescue operation, the

door can be opened via the mechanical profi le cylinder in the lock

(panic function C).

Self-locking locking systems with panic function

Series 19, motor-driven lock

The motor-driven lock is a logical continuation of the Series 19

locks for 1-leaf or 2-leaf narrow stile doors. With the latchbolt

being retracted via motor, the lock is especially suited for use in

the context of access control and barrier free construction, or in

connection with a swing door drive. The motor-driven lock, too,

features contacts for latchbolt or locking cam monitoring. Due to

the standard-size lock case with the electronics inside, the motor-

driven panic locks can be exchanged for all existing BKS Series

18 or 19 locks (standard panic locks or the electrically couplable

versions), or combined with these within the facility.

Series 19/21, electricallylocking panic lock ('EVP')

The electrically locked panic lock EVP of Series 21 or Series 19 is

used in connection with an escape door opener integrated in the

latch plate; it is suitable for narrow stile, timber and steel doors.

Thanks to the VdS-approved latchbolt, the closed door is always

considered locked from the actuarial point of view. The adjustable

latch has been ideally placed in the area of the deadbolt, so the

electric locking point is no longer seated outside the lock. This

compact solution involves a reduced number of system compo-

nents, which facilitates both project planning and door fabrica-

tion.

SECURY 19/21

The lock range of Series 19 and Series 21 is rounded off by the

types SECURY Series 19 and 21. The automatic multi-point locks

feature modern burglary protection and suitability for use on

escape doors. Optionally available latchbolts allow coverage of

an even greater area of application for fi re protection. The com-

bination with a swing door drive is possible as an option. What

is more, the SECURY Series 19 and 21 locks can be fi tted with an

electrically couplable outside handle.

The motor-driven retraction of all three latchbolts, which is the

special feature of the SECURY locks with A-opener, is even pro-

vided in connection with the panic functions B, C and E.

As an additional option, both top and bottom latchbolts are

available with monitoring function.

for the use of toughened glass doors and door assemblies which

have not been thought possible before, e.g., contract lock qual-

ity, panic functions, self-locking locks, and the radio-controlled

coupling/decoupling of lever handles.
