I was given the opportunity to visit

our local Sam’s Club this week

to try out their Castle Wood deli

section to create a sandwich for

our family on the go. Gage and I

found all kinds of goodies for our

busy dinner in the Castle Wood

section. We finally decided on a

few Castle Wood products for our

sandwiches…

Now, you may think sandwiches

are boring, but they don’t have to

be. I kept our sandwich simple,

but it is FULL of flavor. The key is

working with good, flavor packed

ingredients. I selected to use The

Castle Wood Four Pepper Oven

Roasted Turkey Breast along with

the Castle Wood Pepper Jack. Then

I paired those two stars with a fabulous supporting cast of tomatoes, cucumber and hummus…

Yes, hummus! It’s a full flavor, less fat option to mayonnaise or Miracle Whip.

This sandwich is bursting with flavor and is perfect for those meals when you would like to save time and money. With Castle Wood Lunch Meat Sam’s Club signature brand, you can create a fabulous sandwich for $1… Yep, that’s ONE DOLLAR!

This past week I headed out to Sam’s Club to look for Castle Wood Lunch Meat. I’ll admit I had not knowingly tried it yet at this point, but once I found all the varieties available plus the affordable price, I was shocked that I had waited so long! I was able to pick up a variety pack which included all the meats that I needed for this delicious sandwich!

Then, it was time to build my sandwich. I included 4 different types of meat, cheese,

lettuce, and tomato along with my dill spread! I wanted to include my favorite dill spread

on the sandwich as opposed to a mayo or dressing. I like to make this spread and then

keep it on hand for sandwich making throughout the week. It’s a simple combination of

Greek yogurt, sour cream, and lots of dill weed! I used Udi’s gluten free bread for my

sandwich and then used regular bread for my husband. This is the perfect way to serve

gluten free or not!

Not only is this a great sandwich for a daily meal, but it is also perfect to cut into smaller portions and serve at a party! I was won over by this delicious lunch meat!

testI believe I’ve talked before about my love of sandwiches. Cold or hot…I love them

all. And I don’t think I could ever get tired of sandwiches either. Sandwiches and I

get along beautifully. Luckily, the same is true of sandwiches and everyone in my

family. My kids seriously get excited for hand-held dinners. The recipe I’m sharing

today is a chicken version of our Philly Cheesesteaks called….what else? Oven

Baked Chicken Cheesesteaks.

To start with, I used Castle Wood Oven Roasted Chicken Breast Sliced Lunch

Meat, available at Sam’s Club, that I bought on a recent shopping trip. For the

cheese, I used Castle Wood Provolone Sliced Cheese, also available at Sam’s

Club. I used this entire package for 6 sandwiches.

Are you a working mom who usually eats out for lunch? If so, I think that you will love

the DIY Café Style Sandwiches! Even if you are not a working mom… these recipes

are fabulous!

Café sandwiches are very simple, easy and affordable to make! In fact I added up

the cost to make each sandwich and {get this} they were all under $2.50 to make!

The key to a great sandwich is the ingredients. If a Café quality sandwich is your aim

then you need to focus on the best tasting products. I recently tried and fell in love

with the Castle Wood brand lunch meats. They are very high quality, but they are also

affordable! I purchased the Variety Pack of Castle Wood shaved deli meats from Sam’s

Club. I also picked up a variety pack of Castle Wood Deli Sliced Cheeses.

These deli slices are wonderful! They are even great on their own too. I often catch

myself or the girls snacking on them right out of the fridge! I love the variety packs of

Castle Wood meats and cheeses because I can create a different sandwich each day!

My husband is a butcher. Now that he

has lived in Texas long enough, he has a

curiosity about grilling and wants to learn

more about football tailgating foods. He

and I headed to Sam’s Club to pick up

some Cavanaugh Sausage and other

ingredients to make shish kabobs on the

grill so we could provide some of the food

for our Sunday football dinner.

The Boy and Hubby had a great time

putting the sausage, peppers, onions,

and pineapple on the skewers. The Boy

thought it was cool that he knew how to

make the patterns. And then, of course,

Hubby wanted to have a short sword fight

with him.

Before Hubby put the shish kabobs on

the grill, I was admiring how beautiful

everything looked. One of the traditions

that we are trying to instill in our family

is to eat healthy and fresh. I have never

eaten so colorfully before! Eating together

is such a wonderful time to catch up with

your family and learn how everyone is

doing. I have always loved the tradition

of eating together at the table…and it just

wouldn’t feel right to not be with family

while watching football. We’re a football

family and whether you are tailgating or

at home, a meal together always makes it

more fun!

I hope that you all enjoyed your Thanksgiving. I know that I did. I assume that most

of you had a traditional turkey dinner, but have you thought about having ham

for a holiday meal? We had Castle Wood Boneless Ham (that we purchased at

Sam’s Club) and turkey for our Thanksgiving meal

this year and it made for quite a tasty selection.

I don’t think that we have ever had ham with our

Thanksgiving dinner, so this was a nice change

for us.

We thoroughly enjoyed the Sam’s Castle Wood

Ham and definitely plan to purchase it for another

family meal! We might even pass on the turkey

altogether next year and just have ham.

If your family is like mine, you had a LOT of leftovers. So, what did you do with all

those leftovers? We made grilled ham and cheese sandwiches and Cheesy Ham

and Turkey Soup.

19

To really put our Thanksgiving dinner over-

the-top, I added a Castle Wood Spiral-Sliced

Ham, from Sam’s Club, to the menu. It was

delicious! We loved the lightly sweet, smoked

flavor and buying it spiral cut meant that it was

easy to slice perfectly consistent, thin-sliced

and juicy servings. Not only did it contribute to

our abundant and festive Thanksgiving menu;

like turkey, ham lends itself to all kinds of tasty

“leftover” recipes.

I made THREE delicious new meals with

leftovers from our Castle Wood Ham. All

three were pretty simple, but SOOOO good.

On Thanksgiving night, I made my Ham and

Cheese Sliders with Caramelized Poppy seed

Glaze and Homemade Noodle Soup. We still

had some yummy ham left and it was the

perfect lunch ingredient for Grilled Cheese

Broccoli Pockets with Ham and Diced Apples! I

love this simple, meal-on-the-go recipe and the

rest of Thanksgiving leftover ham was just what

I needed to pull it off.

Do you make a huge feast for your family’s

Thanksgiving celebration? Do you serve ham,

turkey, or both? What creative ideas do you

have for using up the leftovers?

This week I took something that nearly all kids love (chicken

nuggets) and added some veggies to make some holiday

food art that didn’t involve marshmallows, chocolate and

all things unhealthy for a change. I started out with a trip

to Sam’s Club because I signed up to bring the chicken

nuggets for Kayla’s class party next week. I wanted to make

sure the kids wound up eating the good ones, like the white

meat kind from Tyson.

If you happen to follow me on Instagram then you’d know

we’re having a total Rudolph obsession in our home. I

thought that a cherry tomato nosed Rudolph might just be

the way to her heart and her belly. I added some cauliflower

snow and thinly sliced some carrot antlers. Then I realized

she needed some ketchup to dip those nuggets in so I wrote

in ketchup.

22

So, what did Kayla think? She didn’t say much

more than “RUDOLPH!!” Before plucking

his nose off, stuffing it in her mouth and

then swiping the chicken nugget through the

ketchup and downing it. Score one for mom

in the cherry tomato eating department. It just

goes to show that if you have a picky eater it

pays to strategize and figure out what will get

them to at least consider trying some new and

healthier foods.

In the spirit of the holidays, we decided

to have a Tyson Chicken Nugget

Decorating Party! I headed to our

local Sam’s Club

in preparation for

the party because

nothing says lovin’ like

buying Tyson Chicken

Nuggets in bulk!

As soon as I arrived

home, the kids were

ready for some decorating fun! We

decided to stick with a snowman theme

and I thought that was a great idea.

For decorating the snowmen, I broke

out the skewers to hold the nuggets

snowmen in place, some ranch

dressing to give them

the snowman effect and

various other condiments

to add to our snowmen.

We also cut up carrots

and peppers for some

additional accessories

(nose, scarf, hat, etc.).

This really was a genius idea because

the kids were snacking on the veggies

while decorating their snowmen.

27It’s no secret that we love

to make kids crafts in this

household! Especially when

they are holiday crafts that

match the season! But have

you ever tried making kids

crafts out of your food? Ok,

sure there are the cookies

that you decorate. But why

do cookies get all the fun? We

took the challenge and came

up with some fun creative food

ideas for kid’s crafts with Tyson

Chicken Nuggets!

One of the top requested

easy meals is Tyson Chicken

Nuggets and fries. Sounds

great! They are simple to make.

Plus the Tyson Chicken nuggets are made from 100% natural ingredients! They are made with white

meat, 0g trans-fat and no preservatives.

Let’s start by making the Holiday Snowmen Chicken Nuggets. You will need three chicken nuggets, two

fries, about 5 toothpicks, one olive and a little ketchup. Let me tell you now, kids will absolutely love making

these! With help from my boys, we soon had enough for a little Holiday Nugget snowman village. I have

to say this would probably make a great family kids craft, Holiday party activity, or even a winter birthday

party kids craft. It will be easy for you to orchestrate with simple cooking, simple clean up and lots of fun!

Are you a busy mom like me? Are you maybe even a working mom? Do you pack

a lunch for you and your family or do you eat out each day? What are some of

your favorite working mom meals?

It can get really, really expensive to buy lunch out every

day. Yikes! So in our family I pack a lot of lunches! It

saves us a ton of money. Plus a homemade sandwich

just tastes better to me.

Today I’d love to share one of our family’s favorite

recipes! My family loves these easy {ham and cheese}

mini melt sandwiches for lunch. They are also great for a quick dinner, and then

you can save the leftovers for lunches the next day. Oh yay…a two for one meal!

You can’t beat that!

First I headed to Sam’s Club to pick up some Castle Wood lunch meat and other

ingredients for our sandwiches. FYI: Castle Wood lunch meat is a Sam’s Club

private label lunch meat.

I love making fun foods for the kiddos (especially

when there is a good theme like Christmas)! So,

I made a super fun and easy holiday meal with

Tyson chicken nuggets! After all, why should the

cookies get all of the fun?

Back at home with our nuggets; turning them in to

something fun and festive was super easy! After

cooking up some nuggets in our toaster oven, I

laid them out on a platter in a tree shape. I used

22 nuggets to do that! Such an easy and fun way

to create a festive meal! What would you make

with your chicken nuggets? Santa? Snowmen?

Reindeer? So many ways to get creative!

Decorating during the holidays is usually

reserved for cookies and cakes, but not this

year. A few chicken nuggets from Tyson

can turn a standard meal into something

fantastic. With a

little imagination, a

snowman can be

created just by adding

ketchup and ranch.

To have additional color

choices, I used ranch

dressing mixed with cake decorating colors.

The blue and green were mixed in a bowl

and then placed in a bottle. The boys were

hesitant to embrace the different colors so

they tried a little bit on their finger. It also

helped that my oldest watched me mix the

colors. Once they were convinced the new

colors were edible, they were so ready to

decorate.

For our chicken

nuggets snowman

each child used three

nuggets per snowman.

My boys saw the

snowball in the hand

of my snowman and

decided to create a

snowball fight between two snowmen. I loved

their creative thought process with this! Two

thumbs up for my two boys! They loved the

Tyson chicken nuggets and also decorating

them. This was the first of many fun times

ahead to play with their food.

If there’s one thing my son absolutely loves, it’s definitely his Chicken Nuggets.

That boy asks for his nuggets every single day for lunch. No matter how many

options we give him, his taste buds always crave his precious chicken nuggets.

Earlier this week, we had a BIG problem! Gasp…we were OUT OF NUGGETS!!!

Of course my son just wasn’t having that. So, being the awesomest mom that I

am, of course we had to head out to Sam’s Club to pick up another GIANT bag of

his favorite – Tyson Chicken Nuggets.

With Christmas just a few days away, I had an awesome idea. Why not decorate

the chicken nuggets for the holidays? What I decided to do was so simple and

fun. I’m talking super-simple, folks! I purchased some holiday pretzels while I was

at Sam’s Club, broke them up, added them as antlers and used ketchup to make

the eyes and nose.

Voila – there you have it: Reindeer Nuggets!!!

The holiday season is all about creating family traditions and memories for me.

The demo stand at Sam’s Club was all about chicken nugget decorating this week.

I immediately fell in love with the idea because Tyson Chicken Nuggets are one of

W’s favorite foods! And I’m all about finding ways to have fun as a family without

spending much money. Why not turn dinner into a fun crafty activity with a holiday

theme? The decorating ideas are almost endless. From snowmen and snowflakes

to reindeer and candy canes, your family is really only limited by what you can

dream up. But let me share a little tip that might work for your family.

I decided to make red and green Christmas lights to keep with the Christmas

theme I had for this project. But you could make as many colors as you have food

coloring. You could also use ketchup and just make the ranch dressing green. So

many options depending on what your family likes to eat!

After gushing over my successful dive into the art of chicken nugget decorating, it

was time for the true test; the toddler taste test. The toddler taste test is the key.

How did it go? Toddler taste test approved!

Raileigh has never liked meat. Ever

since she was an infant and we first

began feeding her solid foods, she

has turned her nose up at nuggets,

burgers, hot dogs, and anything else

that contains meat.

Then, the other day we were at our

local Sam’s Club. At the end of one

of the frozen food aisles, I spotted a

lady passing out samples. She asked

if Raileigh would like to decorate her

nuggets. She pointed to a nearby

sign that had a picture of nuggets

made into snowmen. This was an

offer Raileigh could not refuse. She

and Darren set out to make a cute

snowman consisting of nuggets,

ranch, BBQ sauce, ketchup, and

mustard. The creation turned out

great! Plus, Raileigh had a really good

time making it. However, I just could

not convince her to eat it. So, we

picked up a bag of the Tyson Chicken

Nuggets so that we could recreate a

similar project at home.

We made Tyson Chicken Nugget

“Cookies!” After we finished decorating

our cookies, I asked Raileigh if she

wanted to try one. To my surprise,

she said yes! She didn’t eat all the

nuggets, but she did finish that

one. It’s not much, but it’s a start

considering she absolutely never eats

meat.

Did you know that Sam’s Cub has

a line of private label lunch meats

that are affordable and delicious? By

keeping a few of these on hand at all

times, lunch can be put together in no

time at all. The other day, my husband

and I shopped at Sam’s Club to pick

up some of their Castle Wood lunch

meats. I was pleasantly surprised to

see how affordable the meat really

was. They have several different

meats to choose from. There are even

variety packs if you want to try more

than one without buying them all.

We decided on the Four Pepper

Turkey Breast and some Provolone

cheese. Of course I had to try the

turkey as soon as we got home. It was

absolutely delicious.

The meat is full of pepper flavor. It

is so much better than the turkey

I usually buy. I pulled a few more

things from our refrigerator and got to

work on a simple sauce to make the

sandwich stand out. Mayonnaise and

barbecue sauce is my new favorite

sauce. The raspberry chipotle gives it

the sweet and spicy kick that I love.

Now that I know how quickly I can

put together a gourmet lunch for low

prices, there is no excuse for me to

work through lunch again.

The meat is full of pepper flavor. It is so much better than the turkey

I usually buy.

Did you host or attend a party this New Year’s Eve? My

husband, Clay, and I host a party every New Year’s Eve. We

bought some goodies at Sam’s Club and we all rang in the

Near Year together.

Because we went to Sam’s Club, we

were able to buy larger boxes of things.

They have this Daily Chef Chicken Bacon

Bruschetta. There are 32 pieces for less

than $10. And they are the perfect palm sized pieces so they

really go a long way in a crowd. We had about 15 guests,

including kids; so there were plenty with just one box. And

they are SUPER EASY to fix. You just bake them on a baking

tray for about 15 minutes. They are precooked so you’re just

heating them up and melting the cheese.

So, you’re probably wondering what a frozen Bruschetta tastes

like, right? Well, it is SO GOOD! It is chicken, bacon, ranch and

tomatoes on little toasts. The flavor is amazing.

44I did NOT want to sit at home on another

major Holiday {my ex had the kids the week of

Christmas} thinking about nothing! So, I picked

up the phone, called my best friend, loaded my

kids in the car and headed to her house two

hours away to ring in the New Year with her and

her son! The girls were over the moon excited!

But seeing as I had – err – invited myself, I

could not show up empty handed! Lucky for me,

in anticipation of the other party, I had already

been to Sam’s Club for Daily Chef Chicken and

Bacon Bruschetta. Just the sound of it made my

mouth water! So when I decided to head to my

best friend’s house, I was ready!

My husband’s sister and her husband were in

town and staying at his parents’ house, and they

invited us over for a New Year’s Eve mini-party. I

didn’t want to show up empty-handed, but I also

didn’t want to make anything complicated. When

I heard about Daily Chef Bruschetta, available at

Sam’s Club, I knew it was the perfect solution.

Who doesn’t like bruschetta?

When the bruschetta was done, I could barely

wait for it to cool down to eat it. It looked

amazing, and I could tell it was going to be

delicious! Even so, I underestimated it. The

bread was perfect with a hard crust with a soft

middle; and while I’ve had some bad luck with

frozen spinach & artichoke before, this seriously

tasted like I’m used to from restaurants.

This year I decided to hold a

little tree trimming party with my

granddaughters. I thought it would be

fun to get them all together to help

decorate my Christmas tree.

When I was shopping at Walmart I

came across the Tyson Any’Tizers

in the freezer section. I spotted the

new Any’Tizers Chicken and Bacon

Bruschetta and knew I had to try it. It

would be the perfect appetizer for my

tree trimming party. That is my kind

of party food! My daughter Megan

loves Bruschetta and since she

would be coming over with two of my

granddaughters I picked up a bag.

I wasn’t sure how the tree trimming

would go with all three of the girls

so I picked up a craft project for

the kids to do that was perfect for a

Tree Trimming Party. Have you seen

the Christmas Paper Chain kits at

Walmart? The strips of paper are pre-

cut and pre-glued so all you have to

do is dampen one end of a paper strip

and stick it together. The kids loved

making the paper chains.

This year we decided to attend the

Children’s Theatre Company production

of How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Our

entire family loves the classic Dr. Seuss

story of Christmas cheer. The Grinch of

our show was fabulous, but I could not

take pictures during the performance.

The costumes were vibrant and funny,

just as they should be. And it was fun to

see our much loved characters come to

life in front of our eyes.

But after the show, it was time to return

home for a little Grinch party of our

own. Clearly, it was time to step out of

our dressy attire and into something

much more comfortable. And it was time

to feed our hungry selves. My family

loves to eat appetizers. Turning these

treats into a meal is a special event for

us. Plus, cooking our Tyson Any’Tizers

Bruschetta and Mini Bread Bowls was

so easy! Woo hoo - for uncomplicated

entertaining, you gotta love that! This

little set up might look festive and

difficult, but it took almost no time at all!

The potential “hard work” of creating

bruschetta and mini bread bowls was

taken care of by Tyson!

Are you entertaining this holiday

season? Or do you need to bring a

dish for a gathering you are attending?

I highly recommend Tyson Any’Tizers

Bruschetta or Mini Bread Bowls.

I know that we tell our children not to play with their food, but when challenged to

come up with a creative way to use Tyson Any’Tizer’s Ranch Fries, instantly TJ

and I knew that we wanted to build a haunted house. We wanted to have a mini

Halloween party with the kids before trick-or-

treating and knew that this would be perfect!

Here is everything we need to make our

delicious haunted house: Tyson Any’Tizers

Ranch Fries, toothpicks, marshmallows,

broccoli, black icing gel, candy pumpkins,

ketchup and ranch dressing for dips and mini

chocolate bars.

We absolutely had a blast making our Any’Tizers Ranch Fries haunted house.

In fact, almost as much fun as we had eating it!! The Ranch Fries are really

yummy! They have just the right amount of ranch flavoring and were a hit among

everyone….even our picky eater Keeley!

After dipping the

cookies, I realized we

didn’t have much time

left before we had to

leave! Luckily, I had purchased Tyson

Chicken Bacon Club Stuffed Mini Bread

temperature I needed to set the oven to

There isn’t always time to

prepare a big meal in this house.

Some nights just call for fast and

easy, whether it’s because we’ve

had a tiring day or just want

to take it easy. With that said,

I still want to make meals that

our family can enjoy together. I

recently did just that, thanks to

Tyson.

We were hungry and didn’t want

to wait for oven cooking times.

We tossed two Tyson filets

into the microwave while the

noodles cooked on the stove and

the bread was being warmed.

Everything finished up around

the same time, so we were

eating within 15 minutes! The

meal was very tasty, and it was

something we were able to enjoy

together without slaving over the

stove for an hour or more.

I decided to stroll around Walmart

and find some simple but delicious

ingredients to make a quick lunch or

dinner that will keep my family happy

this Holiday Season and will make me

look like I slaved in the

kitchen for hours!

I found the new Crispier

Chicken Breast Fillets

by Tyson. My Family

loves chicken, and fried

chicken is even better;

yet it takes forever to make and makes

a big mess in the kitchen. I grabbed a

few bags to see how the new Tyson

Crispier Chicken breasts fillets would

turn out.

I immediately had fifty recipes jump

at me. I could have a home cooked

baked Chicken dinner just with green

beans, mashed potatoes, and all the

fixings, or I could use the chicken in

a salad as a topping. I

also could include the

chicken in a wrap or in

many casseroles. The

possibilities are endless!

I decided on something

light after the big

Thanksgiving dinner, and came up with

a Cranberry Crispy Chicken Wrap. It will

take less than 20 minutes to make and

you can include ingredients that your

family likes.

It’s a WrapMelanie Roberts

They use the actual breast and not the

little chicken strips. I was impressed!

Partying with Any’Tizers

I don’t often play hostess for parties, but I decided that I wanted to have a little go

at it simply to spend time with other adults. I’m a big fan of doing things as easily

as possible if I can get away with it. There is a certain sense of satisfaction that

comes from digging in and doing everything myself,

but sometimes I just want it to be quick and easy!

For this particular party I decided to use an old

fallback that would look great, taste great, and only

take about 20 minutes to prepare! I grabbed my best

little man and headed to Walmart!

With the help of a friendly employee we quickly found

the Tyson Stuffed Mini Bread Bowls and the Tyson

Any’Tizers Bruschetta Chicken and Bacon. Two packages of each cost around

$25. I’ve never been able to buy that much food for a party with just $25, plus I get

to make the oven do all the work!

The Importance of FamilyAlyssa McVey

Everyone enjoyed the Any’Tizers. They are a great addition to any party!
