The McKay Public Affairs team will continue to provide legislative advocacy, public relations, social and traditional media outreach and procurement consultation services to their clients, but will now also work as a resource to help promote and guide candidates running for local government offices in South Carolina. The decision to expand their services was made after McKay Public Affairs successfully ran the write-in campaign of West Columbia City Councilman Temus C. “Tem” Miles Jr. Councilman Miles won a landslide election over four other candidates, all of whom were listed on the November 2013 ballot. “I knew my race would be an uphill battle because I was not listed on the ballot and had to convince enough people in my district to write me in. I was a political newcomer, yet McKay Public Affairs combined their knowledge of the political arena, local government promotions, social media outreach and sheer hard work to help me win what many said was an impossible race. We won by double digits,” stated Miles. “They have the knowledge, creativity and the work ethic to manage and promote incumbents, challengers and even a write-in candidate.” Before joining MPA, Senior Vice President Ashley Hunter spent several years as a political consultant and worked for Rod Shealy, one of the most noted political consultants in South Carolina history. “Working with Rod taught me how to run a race from the ground up. He was a great mentor and friend, and I am thankful that I had the opportunity to learn from him,” stated Hunter. Shealy passed away in 2010 after battling brain cancer. Hunter stated her experience coupled with Director of Communications Nick McCormac’s journalism background creates a unique fit for helping promote local candidates. “Councilman Miles’ victory showed us that the time is right to expand. So many city and county council members just need help with the basics: a website, social media presence, or a newsletter. Even in races where the deck is stacked against a candidate, we know the ins and outs of local government operations and have great relationships with members of the media. We are ready to use that knowledge to expand our services,” stated Hunter. To discuss your campaign for office with the McKay Public Affairs team, call 803-705-2151 or email [email protected]. COLUMBIA, SC - McKay Public Affairs is expanding upon their current public affairs services to now include political consulting and

public relations for local government races. The McKay Public Affairs team will continue to provide legislative advocacy, public

relations, social and traditional media outreach and procurement consultation services to their clients, but will now also work as a

resource to help promote and guide candidates running for local government offices in South Carolina.

The decision to expand their services was made after McKay Public Affairs successfully ran the write-in campaign of West Columbia

City Councilman Temus C. “Tem” Miles Jr. Councilman Miles won a landslide election over four other candidates, all of whom were

listed on the November 2013 ballot.

“I knew my race would be an uphill battle because I was not listed on the ballot and had to convince enough people in my district to

write me in. I was a political newcomer, yet McKay Public Affairs combined their knowledge of the political arena, local government

promotions, social media outreach and sheer hard work to help me win what many said was an impossible race. We won by double

digits,” stated Miles. “They have the knowledge, creativity and the work ethic to manage and promote incumbents, challengers and

even a write-in candidate.”

Before joining MPA, Senior Vice President Ashley Hunter spent several years as a political consultant and worked for Rod Shealy,

one of the most noted political consultants in South Carolina history. “Working with Rod taught me how to run a race from the ground

up. He was a great mentor and friend, and I am thankful that I had the opportunity to learn from him,” stated Hunter. Shealy passed

away in 2010 after battling brain cancer.

Hunter stated her experience coupled with Director of Communications Nick McCormac’s journalism background creates a unique fit

for helping promote local candidates. “Councilman Miles’ victory showed us that the time is right to expand. So many city and county

council members just need help with the basics: a website, social media presence, or a newsletter. Even in races where the deck is

stacked against a candidate, we know the ins and outs of local government operations and have great relationships with members of

the media. We are ready to use that knowledge to expand our services,” stated Hunter.
