MAYOR’S MESSAGE It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to our annual arts festival ART TRA 2017. Now in its third year, ART TRA is a calendar highlight for Claremont and the wider community. Art in its many forms is an intrinsic part of what makes a community so special. I am proud of our town centre - a vibrant shopping, dining and entertainment precinct – and now the venue for this major cultural event. I encourage you to explore Claremont’s streets of style and take some time to appreciate the unique, creative talents which form this event program. Visit the three precincts - St Quentin Avenue, Bay View Terrace and Avion Way and experience art in all its forms. From the performing arts at the opening night party, to the Art Contained pop up galleries, Renaissance themed fashion runway, Avion Your Way streetscape installation and even Gaia Golf, mini golf combined with interactive art, there is a variety of events, activities and experiences for everyone. Partnerships are integral to creating a successful festival and I congratulate Claremont businesses for their initiative and collaboration to paint the town red. Visitors can expect themed activities, entertainment and special offers to enhance their shopping experience for the festival duration. Thank you for supporting this festival and I hope you enjoy ART TRA 2017. Jock Barker, Mayor

MAYOR’S MESSAGE

It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to our annual arts festival ART TRA 2017.

STM RENAISSANCE RUNWAY

SATURDAY 1 APRIL 6.30PM TO 9PM

TOWN SQUARE, ST QUENTIN’S AVENUE

Think fashion – think Italy! Based on the Renaissance cultural movement born in Italy, this artistic fashion parade with a twist will inspire and entertain.

An inspired runway show influenced by the European feels of cobble stones, textured architecture and lively street performers.

Looks sourced by Claremont’s world-class retailers will be shown on a streetscape runway, with models taking to the set in a similar vain to a Milano

inspired production. A solo violinist will open the show, embracing her crowd by playing a modern song in a classical style, setting the tone for the wearable yet opulent show.

Nationally renowned fashion stylist Teagan Sewell will curate the dramatic show, working with the unique retailers found in Claremont’s Town Centre. A renaissance

accent to the show will see models featuring bespoke head pieces, masks and layered accessories.

Illustrators will line the front row alongside Perth’s A-Listers, where they will illustrate the show live.

Live music, street entertainment and food stalls.

Look out for the paparazzi!

GAIA GOLFSATURDAY 1 AND SUNDAY 2 APRIL 10AM TO 4PM COLLECT SCORE CARD AT 1 LEURA AVE

A 6 hole mini putt putt golf course – with an artistic spin!

Produced by six contemporary artists, ‘Gaia Golf ’ brings art and public interaction together to explore the new culture of healthy living and wellness.

Balancing Act Guillermo Kramer This hole focuses the golfer’s experience on a series of precariously balanced river stones. Lose/find yourself while putting mindfully through the checkered yoga mat terrain, avoiding tipping or disturbing the sacred stones’ balance.

The Sound of One Hand Clapping Lyndon Blue The player puts against Tibetan bells and around wind-chimes in this meditation retreat in mini-golf form. We guide the player through the therapeutics of harmonic ritual and focused mindfulness; and ultimately to the solar plexus: the seat of one’s identity, discipline and realisation.

Shavasana Chelsea Hopper Eyes closed, jaw unclenched, palms open and relaxed, feet fall open, legs spread comfortably apart. This pose is usually practiced after an active yoga session. It instills deep healing and completely relaxes your body. You can also practice this pose whenever you are extremely tired and need to get back to work quickly. In this mini golf hole the player puts over and around a figure deep in the Shavasana pose.

River Danny Bourke They say a man never steps in the same river twice. In this mini golf hole the player is invited to consider the idea of the changeable self . Are you who you think you are? can you change? Are you the same person at the start of the course as at the end?

The Cloud Guy Louden In this first-class travel inspired mini golf course, putt your way through neck-pillow obstacles and around premium body care samples. When you fly, let yourself drift into the clouds, unwind, indulge, and feel yourself float -- arrive inspired, rejuvenated, and renewed.

Vrksa Dan McCabe The player is invited to complete a Vrksasana (tree pose) before navigating a mini golf course that itself resembles the tree pose. Shoot straight, and pass through the tunnel and straight to the head. Miss and take the unbalanced route, bouncing around the body.
