PXSTL Community Grant Recipients Urban Drum Circle Andrew Scheinman Saturday, May 24; 11 am – 5 pm An interactive installation of drum kits made from a variety of found objects and traditional percussion instruments will invite the public – from passerby to professionals – to engage through music.

United Story: InterAction Catalysts by Design - De Andrea Nichols, Cambrie Nelson & Emily Bornstein Saturday, June 21; 1 – 3 pm catalystsbydesign.com This event will aim to highlight and question community interactivity with activities inspired by the Delmar Divide, the antisocial influence of social media and technology, mental health, and a love of social interventions.

Reflections with Paul Paul Artspace - Michael Behle & David Johnson Monday, July 7 – Sunday, July 13 paulartspace.org Reflections with Paul will create an opportunity for pause and reflection in the urban setting by installing hammocks, life sized photographic prints of the natural environment, and an audio element of nature sounds.

FoodSpark: Creative SoapBox Aaron McMullin, De Andrea Nichols & Emily Bornstein Sunday, July 20; 5 – 7 pm FoodSpark challenges the local artist community to generate ideas that bring St. Louis social issues to the forefront of creative expression through the exchange of ideas and food.

Bread for Work Alex Elmestad & Sean Starowitz Friday, August 15 – Sunday, August 17 alexelmestad.com seanstarowitz.com Edible bread tokens will be offered to the public in return for goods or services, creating an exchange similar to a time bank, while providing the public with substantial nourishment for their work.

Transformation: Making Paper from Plants, Making Art Through Interaction Megan Singleton & Gateway Greening Saturday, August 23; 10 am megansingleton.org gatewaygreening.org Transformation will offer a tutorial of the paper making process, a paper pulp painting activity, and an installation of the St. Louis City landscape to examine the urban nature of vacant lots as a metaphor of growth and vitality in St. Louis.

Pop-Up Museum: STL Style Kathryn Adamchick & Lisa Harper Chang Sunday, September 7; 12 pm Pop-Up Museum will serve as a temporary exhibit created by eight curators, each exhibiting an object or collection that represents a uniquely St. Louis approach to music, fashion, architecture, or food. Mindfulness Day Buddhist Council of Greater St. Louis Saturday, September 13; 1 – 3:30 pm buddhistcouncilstl.net Meditation under expert guidance and a panel discussion with a Q&A session will be provided in the hope of promoting mindfulness and contributing to a stress-free, happy, and productive society.

PXSTL Marks the Spot St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra Friday, September 19; 5:30 pm stlsymphony.org/youthorchestra This chamber rock music performance will consist of contemporary pop pieces selected by Youth Orchestra musicians in response to the museums and galleries located in the Grand Center District.

In the Midwest with Objects Jessica Baran & Mary Jo Bang Photography Studio: Saturday, September 20 & Sunday, September 28, 10 am – 6 pm Exhibition: Sunday, October 5, 12 – 4 pm jessicabaran.com This open portrait studio will invite members of the public to be photographed with their favorite object. Photographs taken will then be exhibited at the PXSTL site.

Visualizing Density UIC and nextSTL - Sarah Gibson, Brent Crittenden & Alex Ihnen Thursday, September 25 – Saturday, September 27 uicstl.com nextstl.com Visualizing Density will create a series of interactive three-dimensional maps of St. Louis in which multiple densities are explored over several days; where St. Louisans will have the opportunity to build energy and generate discussion about our future city.

We Find Lots Pockets of Wonder - Em Piro, Margaret Wilson & Blaire Hamilton Friday, October 3; 7:15 pm Taking place throughout Grand Center and ending at the PXSTL site, this performance, described as a visual poem, will combine modern dance and movement, acrobatics, music, pantomime, and regional culture into an original production.
