Maximizing use of classroom facilities – COVID-19 management plan June through December 2020 (Approved by Deans Council, June 10, 2020) Constants in the formulation of our plans for phased return to campus Informed by CDC Guidance (https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/community/colleges- universities/index.html) and adherence to UTHSA Campus Operations Guidance (https://wp.uthscsa.edu/coronavirus/category/return-to-campus-plan/) Managing infection control on our campuses Health/safety of our faculty, staff, learners Universal temperature screening Universal masking 6-ft physical distance between persons or lab stations In a lab or clinical simulation environment, limit of 2 persons per station Assigned seating location for future contact tracing, as may be needed Requirements from professional accrediting organizations Factors that influence the pandemic management plan for classroom utilization See revised room capacity document In summary, room capacity is now down to the following options: Revised classroom inventory: 1 room =181 occupants (Holly Auditorium) 5 rooms with capacity between 49 and 70 students (including Pestana, Large Lecture Rm behind Starbucks, DTL classrooms, SON-Hurd Aud., and ALTC) 12 rooms with capacity between 20-48 students 33 rooms with capacity between 10-19 students Thus, June through December 2020 Lecture courses remain online. This includes seminars. Schedules for classroom use, especially large classroom use restricted to: o Academic examinations (need to map out exact dates/times to maximize use) o In-person educational activities that require specialized equipment or lab space o In-person educational activities that require supervised student-student learning prior to clinical or lab activities o In-person patient discussions o Externally administered benchmarking examinations Schools will prioritize requests within programs under their purview through the respective Academic Affairs Deans. Non-academic requests are also vetted through the Academic Affairs Deans, to give priority to the academic programs.

• Each classroom will not exceed 25% capacity and must accommodate a 6’ circumference clearance between each occupant

• Academics remain a priority for scheduling• UT Health has 19 classrooms with capacities larger than 100. Please

understand we will be severely limited in our ability to accommodate all requested events.
