Thank you for coming to the Celebration of Mary Fernando’s Life.

You are welcome to join the family at the burial at Bandon Hill Cemetery and later to the wake held in the Church Hall.

It was Mary’s wish that any money raised in her honour be put towardsThe Armenian Relief Society.

A collection will be made to respect her wishes.

, John, saw a new heaven and a new earth; the first heaven and the first earth had disappeared now, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the holy city, and the new Jerusalem, coming

down from God out of heaven, as beautiful as a bride all dressed for her husband. Then I heard a loud voice call from the throne, ‘You see this city? Here God lives among men. He will make His home among them; they shall be His people, and He will be their God; His name is God-with-them. He will wipe away all tears from their eyes; there will be no more death, and no more mourning or sadness. The world of the past has gone.

Then the One sitting on the throne spoke: ‘Now I am making the whole of creation new,’ He said. ‘I will give water from the well of life free to anybody who is thirsty; it is the rightful inheritance of the one who proves victorious; and I will be His God and He a Son to me.’

This is the Word of the Lord,R. Thanks be to God.

Gospel

Today you will be with me in paradise.

R. Praise be to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

ll: alleluia, alleluia, Jesus gave a loud cry and breathed his last, alleluia.

When the soldiers reached the place called The Skull, they crucified Jesus there and the two criminals also, one on the right, the other on the left.

One of the criminals hanging there abused him. “Are you not the Christ” he said. “Save yourself and us as well!”

But the other spoke up and rebuked him. “Have you no fear of God at all?” he said. “You got the same sentence as he did but in our case we deserved it: we are paying for what we did. But this man has done nothing wrong.

This is the Gospel of the Lord

“Jesus,” he said, “remember me when you come into your kingdom.”“Indeed I promise you,” He replied, “today you will be with me in paradise.”

HOMILY

Priest: For our sister Mary, let us pray to our Lord Jesus Christ who said, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me shall live even in death and whoever lives and believes in me shall never die.”

Lord, as we gather to remember the fond memories of our Sister Mary, draw nearer to us who mourn and dry the tears of those who weep, just as you consoled Martha and Our Lady in their distress.

We pray to the Lord: R. Lord have mercy.

You wept at the grave of Lazarus. In our time of despair, we may feel abandoned and deserted but let us remember that you are with us always, sharing with us and comforting us in our sorrow.


Those who believe in you will share eternal life. Our sister Mary even until her last moments, placed all her trust in God. Let her now be at peace in Jesus’ arms.


Mary was a loving mother, grandmother and friend. Her suffering was long and trying but she was eternally hopeful and spiritually prepared to enter into an eternal sleep. Comfort us now in our sorrow and let our faith be our consolation, and eternal life, our hope.

Rianna Burke: Dear Lord, my nana was a very holy and kind person and she was a very very loving person. I miss my nana, she died in peace. But she wanted to go to heaven and she got her wish. Please keep my nana safe. We pray to the Lord: R. Lord have mercy.

Sofia Fernando: My nana was a kind nana and peaceful lady. I mis her and love her very much. Please Jesus look after her for me. I hope she has lots of fun in heaven. We pray to the Lord: R. Lord have mercy.

Mary has left this world and now sleeps with Christ. Let us turn to our Blessed Mother to pray for her intercession at this time;
