Goolsby (Left) and Dr. Dan Himarios (Right) (Dean, 1999-2012) Continuing the Legacy… The Goolsby Leadership Academy began in 2003 with a $2 million gift from an anonymous donor to the College of Business to honor John and Judy Goolsby. The College of Business was challenged to raise an additional $3 million to establish critical academy professorships and to boost scholarship levels. By 2010, the College exceeded the $3 million fundraising challenge through generous funding support from over 30 corporations and individuals alike. The Goolsby Leadership Academy has admitted more than 400 students, partnered with more than 30 executives, provided more than $500,000 in scholarships, and graduated more than 350 Scholars. Graduates are employed at companies such as Cisco, BNSF, Lockheed Martin, Frost Bank, and ALCON, with more than 25 percent continuing their education at graduate or law schools. We were sponsored by Janelle Casey (TD Recruiter) who arranged a great afternoon to hear from the Senior Talent Manager, to tour the facility, and to speak with a panel of recent grads/interns about the company/culture. Tarrant Area Food Bank

The Goolsby scholars havepartnered with the TarrantAreaFoodBanktoassistinthe9ight against food insecurity.Their efforts are focused onbuilding awareness of foodinsecurity in young adults,especially college students.While most college studentsdon't see this issue as asigni9icant problem, the truthis many students rely on foodpantries to feed themselves.Supplying food for students inneed helps them performbetterinacademicswhilealsogivingachance forvolunteerst o g i v e b a c k t o t h e i rcommunities.

Initially, scheduled projectsincludedawarenesseventsandvolunteeringgroups.Althoughthese have been canceled, thescholars are continuing tosupporttheTarrantAreaFoodBankthroughcontentcreationand internship opportunities.Theneweffortswillhelpwithengaging young adults andconnecting them to the FoodBank. ~ We s t , D e l i l a h , a n dMonsserrat(Cohort15)

Thao Ho - Cohort 16 Finance/Economics (May 2021)

Thao is a motivated and gifted Scholar and transfer student from West Texas A&M University. She consistently seeks opportunities to positively impact her fellow students and to give back to the community in her positions of responsibility. She has worked as a Peer Leader, Peer Financial Coach, and MavElite Tour Guide for new students/families.

Thao is a leader with a bright future! She has received an internship from TD Ameritrade with Investor Services for the Summer, 2020.

After graduation in May, 2021, she plans to become a Senior Associate in Financial Management and stay in the DFW area.
