THE NEW COVENANT Today’s first reading is an enormously important passage, not only in the history of the Jewish people, but also for us as disci-ples of Jesus, who see in it a foreshadowing of the Christian dis-pensation. The prophet announces that God has chosen to forgive the people, and that as a sign of divine forgiveness a new cove-nant will be established. Contrasting the new covenant with the one made with Moses on Mount Sinai, Jeremiah says that the new covenant will be written on the people’s hearts rather than on tablets of stone. No longer will the community’s tradition be the sole bearer of the covenant; henceforth, God will speak di-rectly and personally to each individual, forgiving sin and calling for a return to God in faithfulness. No longer will mere outward compliance with the dictates of the Law suffice; henceforth, God asks for an obedience that springs from the depths of one’s heart. Precisely that kind of obedience is highlighted in today’s second reading, where the author of the Letter to the Hebrews describes Jesus as the mediator of the new covenant whose obedience has made him the source of salvation for all who, in turn, obey him. Chrism Mass

Wednesday, March 24, 2021 — 5:00 pm St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church 100 Bishop Manogue Dr., Reno

Please join Bishop Randolph R. Calvo for the celebration of the Chrism Mass. He will bless the Oil of the Catechumens, Oil of the Sick, and will consecrate the Holy Chrism used for Baptism, Confirmation, and Holy Orders during the upcoming year. The oils will be distributed and used at all the churches and hospitals in the diocese.

The priests of the diocese participate by renewing the promises they made on their ordination day. It is their vocation to serve the people of God faithfully, to be men of prayer, and to be faithful to their bishop. It is a powerful moment in the priests’ lives, and the lay faithful are called to renew their commitment and pray for their priests.

Attendance by reservation only. Seating is limited. Please reserve your seat(s) at https://

OUR LADY OF THE SNOWS 5 5th Sunday of Lent

40 DAYS FOR LIFE '40 Days for Life' is back for its Spring campaign!

This is an international campaign to end abortion, that was started in Texas in 2007, and has grown to over 6,000 cities in 61 countries! This peaceful vigil will run for 40 days from February 17 - March 28. It is a documented fact that when people are praying outside of abortion clinic the number of abortions performed can go down by as much as 75 percent. Our Lady of the Snows parishioners will be praying on Fridays from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm. All we ask is that you sign up for one hour on each of the six Fridays, to pray in front of the abortion clinic at 5915 Tyrone Rd. in Reno. To sign up, please go to 40daysforlife.com or call Lauren Evans at (775) 303-4495 for more details. Thank you!

STATIONS OF THE CROSS AT THE ABORTION CLINIC ON GOOD FRIDAY

Through His Holy Passion, Our Lord united Himself with all the victims of suffering in this life. None suffer more innocently than children in the womb whose lives are taken by abortion. None suffer more deeply than their mothers, who carry such a burden of guilt and shame.

On Good Friday we remember all the victims of abortion — the children lost, the mothers wounded, the communities blighted — in a solemn, ecumenical prayer service:

Event: Way of the Cross for Victims of Abortion When: Friday, April 2, 2021 at 7:30 am Where: The West End Woman’s Center 5915 Tyrone Rd., Reno, NV

More Info: Call Tom Murphy 775-453-2436 or email: [email protected]

Join us as we pray for healing for the victims of abortion for a final end to this injustice in our land.

Please remember to wear a mask and social distance.
