Ambitious for Redbridge Wanstead Parking Dear Resident/Business, In December 2016 we informally consulted on parking proposals for Wanstead High Street and its surrounding areas. We received a number of representations and suggestions on the proposals and the areas to be covered by an experimental parking order. Having listened to concerns we have amended our proposals and although there are no proposals for your area we would welcome your opinions on those areas that are within the proposed parking scheme and specifically, the proposals for High Street Wanstead. We have genuine concerns about the challenges of parking in Wanstead. Surveys show a number of issues affecting residents, businesses and shoppers. This causes difficulty for shoppers to park on the High Street, the level of non-residential parking on residential roads, and the amount of free on-street parking used by commuters into London, shoppers visiting Westfield, and people attending events/matches at the former Olympic Stadium. We want to find a solution that is right for the area that deals with the present and future pressures on parking spaces but also takes into account the needs of businesses, residents and shoppers. If you are interested in taking part in the consultation please go to www.redbridge.gov.uk/consultations and fill in the online form. Alternatively you can pick up a consultation pack from Wanstead Library. Traffic Engineering Civic Pride March 2017

Ambitious for Redbridge

Wanstead ParkingDear Resident/Business,

In December 2016 we informally consulted on parking proposals for Wanstead High Street and its surrounding areas.

Our suggestions could:· increase the supply of on-street parking in

High Street· introduce pay and display in the High Street

and the adjoining roads

These suggestions are aimed at controlling the long termparking and generate a regular turn over for visitors to theshops and businesses in the High Street and surrounding

streets

We are considering:· introducing a permit scheme in the

highlighted streets

The aim is to protect them from any potential migration of parkingfrom the High Street and remove the long term commuter parking

which still remains. Many of the streets could be dual permit (both resident and

business) but the streets with the highest residential demandwould be resident permit holders only

ZONE (WD)

We are considering:· introducing permit parking areas

The proposals are intended to be implemented with"past this point" signing only (similar to Gordon

Road, Wanstead). This can maximise the availableparking on-street and removes the need for

unsightly lines on the road

POSSIBLE PAY & DISPLAY AREAincorporating the HIGH STREET

(Potential stand alone scheme)
