ONLY money maker for the year, so your

support is greatly needed. Why?

#1—The youth are our leaders for tomorrow!

#2—It takes many hands, voices, legs & bodies

to put on a show. If you can help for even 1

hour, it makes the show go smoother.

#3—With the money they raise, they give back

scholarships!!

#4—Bring a baked item for the cake ride/walk.

Who knows, we might even have a GOAT again

this year!

#5—Wanna spend time with your friends, your

Scotch & Sirloin,

A High Time for KSHA Members!

Once again, Jennifer Brower put

on a “Great Banquet” at the

Scotch & Sirloin on Saturday,

Feb. 18, 2012.

From the Welcome sign on the

Scotch & Sirloin to the beautiful

atmosphere, the fine food & the

great wait staff, we all felt a little

spoiled by the time the evening

was over. The whisper of “who

is that” could be heard, because

we didn’t have hat hair or a

pony attached to them.

Many

thanks

needs to

go to

Jenni-

fer. It

takes a

lot of time & effort to order all

the 1st place prizes that people

get to personally request, order

the ribbons & make sure it is all

lined up. She also put together

an amazing video of KSHA

members & their ponies.

Almost 100

members &

guest en-

joyed the

banquet,

including

some 3

generations

families!

Thanks to Sarah Robinson for

being our MC for the awards.

I hope you all enjoyed the 2nd

thru 6th place awards that I

found & the board approved to

give out. What a great way to

spread the word about KSHA.

Also Thank You to Terry Craft

who is the point accumulator of

the association. And thanks to

Donna Williams for being the

Show Coordinator for the year.

So it is time to start 2012! The

year is filling up with shows &

more will be added. Here is to a

great year with many happy

memories!

KSHA Sr Show—June 23 & 24, KSF Fair Grounds

Members—this is YOUR show! Yvonne McCarthy is the Show

manager, but she needs YOU to help put the show on. This show

pays for the banquet & ALL the year end awards. So if you like

the prizes, PLEASE support this show! Or we may have to have

peanut butter sandwiches & Dollar trees prizes for year end.

Hey all! Well, it would seem that spring has sprung! And I, for one, am not complaining one little bit. Funny how the nice weather motivates me to get the mundane tasks completed so that I can sneak away and spend time with my horse on these nice days. I’m blessed to have a job that allows me to play hooky now and then. I pray that all of you are getting plenty of barn time. Having said that…..we have show dates posted on the website! And show bills should be posted soon! A huge thanks goes out to Dianne Snyder and Kellie Jensen for wrangling our website and keeping it current. Remember, if you have any requests for our show managers; please contact them well in ad-vance of their shows. Show bills should be in the

mail at least 3 weeks prior to a show and changes after that may not count for points if not made in a timely manner. So help our show managers provide the best show possible by keeping those lines of communication open. Well……..I hear my horse call-ing so I’m gonna close this and go to the barn! I’m looking forward to seeing you all at the April shows and into the 2012 show season. Remember….if you know someone who loves horses and horse people; encourage them to check out KSHA. Bring them to a show and introduce them around. We would love to welcome them into our association. Blessings, Donna Williams KSHA President

TEST YOUR KNOWLEDGE

Many of you have heard the term “Hippology”, but do you

know what it means? It is the study of the horse. In 4-H it is

a strong part of the horse project. We have several youth in

our association that have studied & competed in Hippology

contests. The following is a typical “Station” at a contest…

lets see how you do? The 1st person that emails & the 1st that

calls me with the correct answer wins a KSHA prize!

going, bucked the hay bales, drove

the grain truck to town that didn't

have the lift working right, the grand-

parents that farmed & taught me

valuable lessons & my first trip to a

horse show was with my horse in the

back of the pickup stockracks. And I

wouldn’t change a thing about my

growing up.

Back to the Reba inter-

view—she talked about her journey

to get where she is and how much

she has enjoyed it. She also talked

about her Dad who has won World

times. She asked her dad “What was

more fun, receiving that World

Champion Buckle & Saddle, or the

journey getting there?” He said - the

journey getting there. And so does

Reba. And so do I.

I don’t know how many of

you get the OWN channel at your

house (I know—Oprah Winfrey, you

have GOT to be kidding!), but I would

suggest if you get a chance, watch

some of her shows. She has what is

called a “Masters Class” where Stars

If you are like me & have

grown up listening to Reba songs, you

know that she likes to tell a story in

each one. Reba has come along ways

from living in Oklahoma, Rodeoing

with her family & being the hired hand

on her parents ranch. But, she said,

she wouldn’t change a thing about

that.

Like Reba, I grew up on the

family farm, learned to drive a tractor

at age 5 by me steering & a cousin tell-

It’s all about the journey, or the ride.

The ride to the ribbon, but not neces-

sarily receiving the ribbon. Its about

the hard work, the time with my

friends, the bonding of my horse, the

challenges on the way, and THEN

looking at that ribbon.

It’s trying to remember every-

day to tell everyone that is important

to me that they are. So that when my

ride is over, I have completed my jour-

ney that I want to.

It’s all about the ride. So

horse friends—let’s ride!!!
