Welcome Kerrie Kerrie Hull joined our team as the Di- rector of Human Resources. Originally from Montana, Kerrie has resided in Colorado since 1999. She has over 20 plus years in HR and is very active vol- unteering in the community especially with the Rocky Mountain Great Dane Rescue and Habitat for Humanity. Marble and Granite Update Gallegos Marble & Granite is rapidly upgrading its ser- vices. In January, Division 21 began use of an LT 2D/3D laser templator that creates digital drawings for work orders that are laser pre- cise. The machine operates using a windows tablet and creates ϐiles that are accu- rate to within 1/128 of an inch. The drawings are then sent directly to the marble shop via e-mail to be loaded directly into the CNC, eliminating the need to program paper drawings. Thus far, Keith Shaw (pictured at left) of division 21 has created templates for counters, showers, and a pool coping. The laser templator can be used at distances up to 300’. In March, the marble shop installed Slabsmith modelling software. The Slabsmith system allows for cali- brated photos to be taken of each slab. Once the photo is taken, the software is able to measure the exact dimensions of the slab while also placing the slab in inventory. Erick Sandoval of division 40 then embeds the measurements for the project into the photo of the slab, making book-matching extremely more efϐi- cient while also providing our clients with a photo of exactly how their ϐinal product will appear before we cut the slab. If the client wants to modify the look, Erick is able to adjust the drawing to the client’s lik- ing. Within months, we will have a photo inventory of all slabs in our shop that will be accessible to up to 50 users, thereby increasing our efϐiciency in providing samples to our clients. Stone Yard Updates Similar to Productivity Builder, we have recently initiated best-practice processes in the stone yard. These processes are aimed at verifying the accuracy of shipments, providing order status updates to clients (both internal and external), and documenting our orders efficiently. The entire yard team has been meeting monthly to discuss our progress with each process and find new ways of providing all of you the service you deserve. In addition, the stone yard team has begun testing a point of sale system that will further en- hance our accuracy and customer experience. The Annual Stone Yard Sale is coming up on May 21, 22, and 28. This year’s sale has more inventory avail- able at bigger discounts than before, featuring retaining wall material, ϐlagstone ϐlooring, landscape materi- al, moss rock and lots more. This year Gallegos Employees can pre-shop the sale before the general public. Please call 970.524.4322 to set up a time or with any questions on the upcoming sale! Safety Committee Update The Safety Committee is recruiting new members for the June 2016– June 2017 term. Employees from all divisions are invited to partici- pate on the Safety Committee. The committee audits job sites for safe- ty, determines new safety policy and procedures, as well as review the current ones. The members ensure that Gallegos is an industry leader in safety and all employees follow best safety practices. The Safety Com- mittee meets once a month. If you have interest in joining the commit- tee please contact Mike Haller at 970.471.4527. Congratulations to Dan Dan White (10) and his wife Monica, welcomed a baby girl. Sage was born No- vember 16, 2015 and looks great in her Gallegos gear! Congrat- ulations on your beautiful addition!
