DESIGN FEATURES


Design Features

The CSO type is a horizontal single stage volute pump of special design used for process industries. The hydraulic specifications and main dimensions correspond to DIN 24.256. Beside the design according to DIN with feet located at the lower part of the volute casing, pumps with feet in centerline position, suitable for high temperatures, can be supplied too.All models have axial inlet, while the discharge nozzle is in top-vertical position.

Field of Application

The Standard Chemical Pump CSO is suitable for handling liquids which are either highly corrosive or contain gas or have a tendency to cristallization or polymerisation.Furthermore it is used for mediums with extremely high or low temperatures, for liquids which are pumpable in hot state only or have a high specific weight.Therefore CSO pumps are preferably applied for chemical plants and similar installations, e. g. petro-chemical works, petroleum refinery plants, food industries on the one hand, on the other for water treatment plants, galvanizing plants, material-handling plants, high temperature heating plants, using water or oil as a heat carrier, etc.

Heating

The casing of the CSO pump can be provided with a heating jacket on the suction and discharge side, if it is necessary to handle liquids having a tendency to solidification when pump is not in use or cooling down.

Cooling

A common feature to all CSO type pumps is the possibility to cool the stuffing box packing or mechanical seal and bearing intensively by means of a integral cast cooling chamber.

Drive

The drive can be effected alternatively by means of an electric motor, a turbine or an internal-combustion engine.

Range of capacity

Capacity Q = up to 400 m3/h.Head H = up to 150 m.Speed n = up to 3000 r.p.m.Temperature t = from - 100ºC to 300ºC(with heat transfer pumps up to 350ºC)Working pressure p = up to 16Kg/cm2(If spheroidal graphite cast iron isused as a material, pressure rise up to 25 Kg/cm2).

Impeller

The Standard Chemical Pump CSO is normally equipped with a closed impeller. In order to handle fluids presenting more difficult operating conditions, suach as viscous, gas-containing or crystallizable liquids, channel impellers or open impellers may be used too. All impeller types are provided with radial back blades for pressure relief and pressure adjustment.

Shaft seal

Shaft sealing is possible either by means of stuffing box packing or a mechanical seal.All sizes of CSO type pumps are equipped with balanced or loaded, single-acting or double-acting seals, selected from the known manufacturers. The pump is provided with necessary connections for liquid circulation or flushing from an external source, for quenching or sealing liquid admission.

Bearings

The pump shaft is mounted on oil lubricated antifriction bearing, and it can be shifted in axial direction. Thus, in the case of pumps with open impeller the clearance necessary between casing and impeller can be easily adjusted.It is also possible to change the pressure within the shaft sealing chamber by clearance adjustment of the back blades.The oil level in the bearing housing is kept automatically constant by means of a Constant-Level-Oiler.

Dismantling

Due the CSO type process pump design, removal of the complete rotor is possible towards the driving side. The pump remains in its possition on the foundation plate and with aligned the pipe system without loosening the flanged joints.If a coupling with dismantling piece is used, dismantling and reinsertion of the rotor is also possible without removal of the drive motor.
